Environmental Tweaks - Northern Tropical Island
The Northern Tropical Island has received quite a lot of additions! It's now even more of a perfect starting zone! Just a lush, tropical paradise filled to the brim with all sorts of useful resources!
  • You can find a variety of new palm trees here! These are date palms! They give off a slightly warmer vibe than your typical palm! Very tropical!


  • You can also find a variety of new tropical trees here as well. They're overgrown with all sorts of foliage and give the island a much thicker feel.


  • We got lotsa grass growing here too! It helps make the terrain look a lot less bald and much more lush. It can also be harvested!


  • Hope you like fungus! This island is now filled with mushrooms that can be harvested for Aberration mushrooms and, if you're lucky, Rare Mushrooms too!


  • Wild tail flowers can be found here and when harvested they give you fiber, tintoberries, tintoberry seeds, and even red dye! There will be many more dye-giving plants like this in the future!


  • Wild citronal! Never before has citronal grown anywhere on any map (I think lmao). Scurvy's all but a bad memory with these boys lyin' around! They only seem to grow in the center of the island, however...


  • Remember those swag ass storage crates on the beaches of Ragnarok's Viking Bay? Well, they're here too, only better! Not only do they give you the same items, these ones also drop Metal Pickaxes and even SCUBA Flippers! Honestly, I never understood why Metal Picks were off limits for those Ragnarok crates... This game's balance istg lmao.


  • There's all sorts of foliage hanging from the various rock formations found here, which gives the area a much greener feel. 'The Center' is honestly a really barren map. It's well designed but just... drab. Lifeless, even! Being a tropical island, I felt that it was fitting for it to be overgrown with vines and other plants.


  • All over the island are these giant mushrooms that serve as a natural stairways. Ever wanted to make your way down a cliff without dying or using a parachute? Just look for glowing mushrooms! You’ll see what I mean! These are all over the island and can be found on the perimeter as well as the center!


  • Huge, sturdy trees can now be found all over the island! Although they may not be harvestable, you can actually build on them! They also serve as excellent landmarks due to their size and the presence of glowing mushrooms at their base.


  • You can find natural zip lines here as well! They can help you traverse your way through the center portion of the island. Honestly, I wish more maps had these. They're so fun to ride around on...


  • Small yellow gastropod shells litter the beaches of this island. When picked up, they give you shell fragments and keratin! Now it's less of a hassle to make a wooden ocean platform base!


  • You can find sand piles similar to the ones found on Ragnarok all over the beach here! Unlike the ones in Ragnarok, you get both sand AND salt from these. They also make a much nicer sound when harvested! Hooray!


  • The pool in the center of the island has been filled with a variety of corals to help spice it up! These corals can be harvested for various resources such as fungal wood, flint, thatch, and stone. Might change that though cuz it's kinda weird but, eh, it's what Genesis Part 1 did so lmao.

This doesn't work.
You will not be able to: mine wood, shells, sand, crystals, grass.

The Center has always been my favorite map, but it's so dated compared to the newer stuff out there and it never got more than Island dinos. I love your Northern Tropical Island progress so far and I'm excited to see what else you tweak!
