First, start with a 20x20 road square.



Now add housing and a couple of roads with the following spacing;




As your city grows you'll easily be able to incorporate more services for your Urbekians to enjoy. I'd suggest starting by filling the center with farms and adding a few local markets to provide food service to the interior houses.

When you've unlocked schools, one will fit perfectly in the center of the square and cover the entire 20x20 area. As you continue to unlock them, you'll have ample room to add other services such as green spaces, bars, banks and clinics, as seen below;




Later on in the game, when you've unlocked food research centers, the 2x1 building can fit in the remaining space in the 1-block gap between houses, and the advanced food research center can be placed at the top, and bottom center of your 20x20 grid, as seen below;
