It is presumed Pyro is italian and his full name is Luigi Rossi. His age during the events of Team Fortress 2 is about 30 to 25. His home town is Rome, Italy.

He found his obsession with fire when he was 3 years old and his father's pizza shop burnt down. After that terrible event Pyro himself commit arson several time around Rome killing 92 people and injuring 122 others within the span of 2 days. From then on he was recruited by Mann Co and became a mercenary.
