Accessing Price History on a Game Page
  1. Visit IsThereAnyDeal[isthereanydeal.com], a website that shows you all the latest PC game discounts from online distribution platforms, including Steam and official Steam key stores. You don't need to have an account or login to access price data.

  2. Use the Search field at the top of the page to find the game you're interested in.

The following example screenshots show search results and game information for TRON 2.0, a very fun game released in 2003.

  3. The Search Results should list one or more matches. Click the game you're interested in to open its Game Page. You want to view the full Game Page, so don't use the "quick info" link at the upper-right corner.

  4. Select the History tab to view price history.

  5. The price history line chart shows the game's tracked price for the selected stores and date range.

When the filter button at the upper-right show "All stores selected", the line chart and price data below will include all data from every store that sells or sold the game.

The small "zoom" buttons can be used to quickly focus the line chart on a time period, such as "1 year", which is helpful to get a quick visual of the price fluctuations.

  6. Scroll down to the next section to see the game's Price Data.

The Price Data defaults to "All time", however it's usually more helpful to view more recent data, such as "Last year". Some game prices changed a lot throughout its life on the market, so its helpful to focus the on the more current data.

So here we go. The results show that TRON 2.0 went on sale a number of times throughout the past year. While the Lowest price among all stores was $1.83, the Average Deal was $4.93 (about 48% off). That's a good price to use when shopping for good deals.

If a game hasn't been discounted during the selected time period, the Average Deal may show $0.00. This usually indicates that there simply haven't been any sales, not that the game was free. In this case, the Average Total value indicates what the game will likely cost.

With regards to the game's Lowest price, the line chart shows that multiple stores have lowered the price to around $2.00 on occasion, which suggests you should be able to find it for that price if you look around and wait a bit.

For some other games, the lowest price might have been reached by just a single store one time, perhaps many months ago. In such a case the chances of seeing it again at that price, especially at your preferred store, may be low.

That's why I prefer to use the Average Deal as basis for what's a good deal to look for. Any price higher than that may be worth a wait, and anything lower may be worth buying.
Accessing a Game Page from a Quick Info Popup
If you happen to open a game's Quick Info popup, you'll be able to view the current price data across all stores that offer the game, but there's no detailed price history available.

In this case, click the "More info on Game Page" button at the top of the popup to be taken to the associated Game Page.
