Some additional input to the Weaponsmith achievement
To make this achievement a bit less obnoxious you can get yourself 10 to 20 blanks (Karlsson and Oscar sell them) and do as follows:
- Start at the forge and heat a blank
- Right click (on PC - on other platforms I think drawing your weapon should work) to put the glowing blank into your inventory
- Do this for all blanks you have
- Move to the anvil and repeat: Hammer, right click to put away, hammer next
- Repeat again for all blanks at the water through
- You have now 10-20 "Dull swords" in your inventory
- SAVE
- Sharpen all dull blades on the whetstone
- Reload and repeat the sharpening process
By unlocking that one, Carlos gives you a letter. If you talk to literally the first character behind the gate of the monastery - Master Pallas - he will assume you got caught and brought in by force, at which point you should be able to show Carlos' recommendation. Pallas will almost instantly ask you whether you want to be a warrior or mage. Choose mage, and you're good. No more choice beyond that point.
Once you've moved to chapter 2, Master Ignatius will teach you all 4 seals of rune magic.
It's the 200 wisdom requirement for the 4th level of seal, which can only be met through stone tables in the locked ruins of chapter 4.... oor you use the console command to get there instantly ( /teach INT 200), skipping the majority of that 3rd playthrough. (Just make sure to disable the console inbetween 200 wisdom and talking to Ignatius)
