How To Mass Delete Save Games

This is a basic guide of how to delete all your save games.

I did it because I was fed up of Asmodee's insane 'cheating' AI so I kept ditching games where I could see it was just going to keep dropping favourable tiles to the AI.

Relevant Location
The folder that you need is:

C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\LocalLow\Asmodee\Carcassonne\Default

Where
YOUR_USER
is your windows username.

Deletion
Delete or backup these files:
  • carcassonneSaveGameFile.data
  • All files in the SaveGame folder


Optional
Verify
Verify your game files in steam.
Possible Selectiveness
You might be able to get away with deleting a selection of files in the save game folder, just ensure that none that are left (rename if necessary) are numbered 000 or 001, as the next step would be starting the game, and abandoning a game, then quitting to Windows, and starting again. I *might* then recognise the other games ... but I doubt it.

I say all this as I tried editing the save game .data file in notepad++, and didn't have much luck, but ymmv.

Can you clarify: how does deleting save files affect the cheating AI?

@GCandy, aye ... this should help, but I think they may have patched it ... it's been a hot second since I played regular like.

Also had to remove it from my gaming PC as their launching / online functionality uses some freaky IPs that my hosts file already had blocked. So ... ... :SkullNBones:

Finally .. Someone else that recognises that the game cheats like F** and there is no way to get a fair game - ever ... Even online :/
