I felt they moved far too slow for use other than as base defense and while that is a fairly interesting niche I figured I'd make them a bit faster anyway for my own taste as well as because as ambush predators real mantises can move very quickly. (Maybe I can set combat movement to be faster than travel somehow later?) As the original mod author made them with bonedogs as a base I made them a bit closer to bonedogs, but still considerably slower.

Another modification I made was substantially altering the probability for each colour subspecies to be selected. I figured that at something like 1% chance of pale spawning for example made it infeasible to get them on your squad without a frankly painful amount of rerolling. The special colours are still rare with pale being rarest, but it should be a bit more fun for those of us who don't like hunting for shiny pokemon in our spare time.

Thanks to the original mod's author for a great (if oddly earth-like) addition to the game's fauna.
