Ratpack - Rat Backpack

Beskrivning
Adds a cute rat backpack, called a Ratpack, to the game.
This friendly rat companion will follow you around (on your back) and keep your items safe, and it will definitely not nibble on any of them.

The Ratpack is obtained by crafting it from the "Make Ratpack" or "Make Ratpack (Small)" recipes, which requires a Dead Rat, a bit of thread and a needle, and either a Military Backpack or a Duffel Bag respectively depending on which size Ratpack you want.
Alternatively, the smaller variant of the Ratpack has a rare chance to spawn in shelves or crates for toys, and in certain types of lockers.

The Ratpack is a purely cosmetical item, and as such it has the same stats as the backpack used to craft it.

Updated last on 2023-10-19:

Added a second, smaller variant of the Ratpack which can be crafted using a Duffel Bag instead of a Military Backpack, so you can start your magical rat friendship even earlier in the game. Wow!

Added a chance for the new, smaller Ratpack to spawn naturally in the world. Your new rat pal is out there right now, just waiting for you to come find them!

This approach would keep your mod simple while enabling users to provide translations for their own language. I’d be more than happy to assist with testing or translating if needed!

Players could then translate these keys into their own languages (e.g., Korean):

Create a translation file (e.g., IG_UI_EN.txt) with keys and corresponding text:

IGUI_RatPackMessenger_Nibbles = "*%1$s nibbles on %2$s*"

Here’s an example of how you could implement this:

Replace hardcoded strings (e.g., "nibbles on") with getText calls.

Hello broface,

First of all, thank you for creating such a fun and charming mod! I’ve been enjoying it a lot, especially the cute rat companion mechanics. 😊

I’m reaching out to ask if it would be possible to add localization (translation) support for the mod. This would allow players from different regions to enjoy your mod in their own languages, making it even more accessible to the global community.

Just updated the mod to add a smaller version of the Ratpack which doesn't require a Military Backpack to craft, as suggested to make it a bit easier to obtain.

Also added a chance for the Ratpack (Small) to spawn as loot, just for the added fun of people stumbing across a new rat friend even if they've forgotten about the mod or its recipe.
