Because the game saves a Hardcore Mode file and allows you to die once, you can copy your Hardcore Mode save file at every save point and restore it from the copy if you die.

Start a Hardcore Run, then cheese.

Start a hardcore run and progress normally up to the first save point
Go to the game's page in your steam library and click manage>browse local files>saves
Copy your hardcore save file and add "_backup" to the file name
Continue to play until you hit another save or die
If you hit another save point copy your save file and replace your "_backup" file
If you die delete your actual hardcore save file, copy your "_backup" file, and rename it to the original "hardcore.sav". Then, restart your game and load the hardcore save.
Repeat the last three points until you beat the game

It's basically the same as the normal mode but you don't have the computer
