Even if the monitor won't support it, in windows setting like the guide ask WILL work, it will ubersample the resolution inside a supported rsolution.
If the GPU cannot support it, it won't let you do a custom resolution of it. And supported resolution but old GPU are VERY BIG even more on recent GPU. More than needed.
AS i said, in your case it's all depend if the game engine support it.
1080P is supported so the guide is only a way to display it avoinding the auto detect unworking crap.
a 16x9 pixels difference for me wasn'T enough to trigger the engine detecting the resolution correctly so 1080P wasn't available with only 16x9 pixels more.
You made a custom resolution to match the aspect but you put it so far above the desired resolution that this could cause issues where peoples monitors or video card may not support the resolution you recommended and they could get into trouble.
The easier way is to simply make the custom resolution the same as the desired resolution but increased literally by the smallest amount using the aspect ratio.
So, if your goal was 1920x1080, we all know this is a 16:9 ratio so it makes it easy to come up with (1920 + 16) and (1080 + 9) to get a custom resolution of 1936x1089.
So, for mine when I try it (and ill still report back with that), I have a resolution of 2560x1080 which is an aspect ratio of 21:9 and so my target would/will be 2581 x 1089.
But yeah, i won't be surprised if the engine support your resolution, but if it's ultra wide, you need to select a bigger resolution than 2560x1080 with the SAME size RATIO. So you need to change a bit of the guide depending of the screen resolution
I cannot confirm it can be used partially to make a custom resolution
