Ever annoyed about having to Alt+Tab out of Oblivion just to change the volume? Well if so, this guide is for you.

How to fix it
So I've recently started playing the Elder Scrolls series, and one thing that really irked me about them is the fact that I have to alt+tab out of the game every time I want to change my PC volume. Well, I finally found a simple fix to my, and maybe your, problem.

Also after trying, this fix works in Skyrim and Morrowind as well.

1) Open Oblivion.ini
2) Find (Control + F) the line "bBackground Keyboard=0" (No quotes obviously)
3) Change 0 to 1
4) Open the game and enjoy your journey across Cyrodiil.

I know this is a tiny little issue that not many people will care about, but I just wanted to put this out there for anyone looking for a solution like I was.

@1overclockedmonkey ....or I could just use the volume scroll wheel on my keyboard without any menus at all. speaking of brain cell loss, if you took 2 seconds to think you would realize if people wanted to go into multiple settings menus everytime to adjust volume they wouldn't be on this guide. why comment if you have nothing to contribute but condescension?

for the love of all that is brain cell loss.........in-game , options, audio, and lower the volume to desired decibel level. your welcome.

Brilliant, simple guide, thanks palmer/OP.
Cybetrexs, I have a high-end Steelseries headset with GameDAC that is also plugged into external speakers. Both can be controlled with hardware, but sometimes it's easier to access the volume wheel on my keyboard.
Additionally, my keyboard has media keys that I like to use to control YouTube videos whilst I play, and it fixed that, too.

THANK YOU SO MUCH..... alt+tab always makes my game crash/get super laggy. i prob couldve used steam overlay but i forgot abt it tbh lol. either way this is way more convenient thank u

how do they not have access to that? I don't know a single speaker system of headset that doesn't have that option. I have cheap-ass 30$ red dragon speakers from amazon that have external buttons.

Cybetrexs, I would agree with you, but there are some people that don't have access to that solution, and this is just for ease of use
