The path for the name files can be found through C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\LocalLow\Cellar Door Games\Rogue Legacy 2\CustomData\<platform version>\.


There, you'll find FemaleNameList.txt and MaleNameList.txt If there are no files in that folder, or the files are empty, you will need to run the game once for them to load.

To add names, you simply type or paste what you want below the comments, and put a line break (the enter key) between each name. After adding what you want, save it by clicking File and then Save, or just press the Ctrl + S keys.

For the names to appear at all in-game, you will need to add at least five of them. At that point, default names will stop appearing as well.
From what I know there is no limit to how many names you can have, or how long those names can be. When a name is long enough it'll start to spill out of text boxes, but if you're making a name that long you're asking for trouble!

If you want to keep the default names along with your new custom names, then no problem!

If a name never appears in game, it's most likely poor RNG and you'll see it eventually. If none of the names appear, make sure you saved the text file or added enough names for them to appear in the first place. If everything seems fine and the names still don't appear (even after restarting the game), feel free to report it as a bug in the Technical Support discussions on Steam, or in the bug reports channel on the Cellar Door Games Discord![discord.gg]

If a name appears entirely or partly as squares, you likely used incompatible text in a name. You'll see the most success if you only use letters, numbers, and / or punctuation marks, past that point I can't say what will and won't break the name. Make sure you're not using a special font either.
