In short you can check some of my screenshots and compare the FOV (Field Of View) on some of the pictures.
By changing the reference resolution to your native res. you're constantly seeing the entire board instead of the zoomed in view.
This method renders Eagle Eye useless, since it doesn't zoom out quite as much.
On another note: It's made this way by intention. You ARE supposed to have a limited FOV, to limit your abilities of surviving :)
I recently "discussed" this with Temper (Developer) and he agreed that changing the FOV is "cheating", at least a little bit.. :)
Without it, you're still more than capable of getting more than decent scores :)
Why not goto Extras Menu -> Display Options
I get supported resolutions go upto 2560x1600
Basically I regret supporting this version.
I know how to manually enable them and of course I do but I think they didn't understand why their game was successful to begin with. And the power ramping up from perks in long missions was a big part of it.
Nothing like starting weak and barely surviving until you're so perked out that you destroy everything that even looks at you.
What I'm agreeing with is that by expanding the resolution (and consequently the FoV), you'll be cheating. It's like the Eagle Eye perk for free.
Field of view here depends on resolution which is a problem of developers who didn't lock it down without depending on resolution.
Resolution makes everything blurry and ugly when it's different from native for your monitor.
