Hook up your controller
Using your favorite Micro USB cable, attach your PS4 controller to your PC. You should use it hardwired.

In Windows 10, click Settings -> Bluetooth & other devices.

It will appear as Wireless Controller.



NOTE: you don't need to press the PS button on it, it works without any illumination or "power on."
Steam Settings
  1. In Steam click on the Steam menu tab.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Controller in the pop-up box.
  4. Click on the General Controller Settings box.
  5. Uncheck the check mark in the box for PlayStation Configuration Support.


  6. Turn the Controller shutdown time to never.
  7. Make sure PlayStation 4 Controller is listed under Detected Controllers.
Throw your keyboard under a passing wagon
Open Red Dead Redemption 2, go to Settings. You should already be using your PS4 controller with amazement.

Change settings to Standard FPS so you can sprint with the left stick.

Now you can pew-pew like a real player!

Took your advice and threw my keyboard under a passing wagon and now my boss is pissed because I can't write code with a PS4 controller. Please advise.

The ASUS controller that came with my Steam Deck feels and plays like a cow pie. Using the keyboard to drive my horse and toon was sucking my will to live. PS4 controller has the right weight, balance and trigger feel. Yeeeeeee HAWWWWW!
