Hello friends! The correct path as of September 2nd, 2025 is the following:

Your Helmet > Account > Options > Under "General" tab, enable "Allow Steam Overlay in Simulator"

@taxi83 it only tracks while you are in game, when you are running the simulator, or it used to work like that

what can I do If I did this and still not working? When I press play I get the "playing iRacing" for like 1-2 seconds then it disapears so steam stops keeping track of it

@Astro try out the method i commented on before 3 comments lower, that was a ''fix'' in the past,

i bought iracing via steam the first time and then asked i racing to unlink my iracing account from steam so i could have better deals on i racing website, and then i connected it again via the generated key, but my frined bought it via i racing and then activated with a key and the hours played still tracked for him. i am 80% that the steam UI also worked

Does this only function if i bought the account via steam?
I´ve linked my old iRacing account to steam but if i want to start the UI with steam it every time opens the browser to login but dont open the iRacing UI.

if the method described in the post did not help then try activating the parameter "use steam overlay" on members.iraicing.com in the settings.
this method helped me.

the way it opens might be related if you activated iRacing with a key provided by iRacing or if you bought threw steam and downloaded the whole game that way and then steam uses the launch folder where the full game is downloaded not just the 1MB file for redirecting you to the website.

There is a way to change the launch options i found on a websites when i googled ''steam change launch exe'' but it is a complicated process and above my knowladge, and that is as far as i can help you.
