Nah, SEGA just had the licence from Vocaloid, because they were making Hatsune Miku games at the time. And funnily enough, they still do. Most of said games had international releases so there was no problem with licencing overseas. That's why we still have the Miku stuff in the remaster.

I'm going to take a wild guess that there was a cross promotion thing going on with the game at the time and they decided to keep it in the remastered edition.
