This guide is not coming from an expert with 3000 hours into a game , so don't expect all the tips and help this game can offer you, Although i will try to help starter/mid range players including rewarding quests , farming spots etc.

It does take a lot of time to share all the information i want to , so don't look at this as an final guide , it will be updated soon.

Heads up - Warning before you play.

I warn you , the game needs polishing to be done and it is noticeable , but if you can ignore
problems the game has - few of them:
• Texture's glitching out
• Poor optimisation - using keybind alt+h helps.
• Textures not loading in (restarting game few times fixes it)
This are the few of most noticeable glitches i encounterd.

The game itself is free to play and you can gain all the gear you will need by farming and doing quests. There is a donation system - unboxing equipment and gear for money.

I wouldn't recommend doing any of unboxing in the game since it has a lower chance then you probably expect. The cases have an 2 type of percentage ( Gear Section and Gear itself)
The first type is to get an item from section itself.
Example: Section 1 - Weapons - has 5-10% giving a weapon itself.
It means you will have only from 5 to 10% to get a weapon from a crate.
And then the second type is quality of gear
the better gear is from the section the lower chance to get that item.

I am not saying that its impossible to unbox something good from donating , its just not worth
the price it cost.

With this information you should decide if you even want to try the game "Stay Out"

in my experience , the game does annoy with some problems , but the atmosphere of the game and
some features beats all the struggle i get dealing with problems.

Clothing

Welcome Stalker I am here to help you out on your harsh , but yet full of interesting and beautiful adventures.

lets begin with the equipment itself , as what is important and what is not.

Clothing

Clothing has types of objective.

Protection And Capacity.

Since most of mutant's attack your torso and head , for protection you usually enough a decent helmet and body armor.

Any kinda armor is good for pve , since they all are really similar.
you can get 6B2 for free exchanging it for toz in a gourman village or after doing some quest's get one of these body armor as a reward
  • 6B3 60%
  • 6B1 5%
  • M1952 30%
  • PASGT-V 5%
6B3 is the best one out of 4 in my opinion due to 45% melee protection and 2 pockets + additional slot for radio.

Helmet i would recommend to buy and stick to is M1 nato - it's basically same as PASGT , but cost 500.000 rubles less.

jacket and pants are basically a decorative purpose.
The only thing you should look into while surfing for clothing is a pocket capacity.

Protective jacket is best option from selection of jackets.
As for pant's there are few different options to go for , all of the following pant's maintain 2pocket's:
  • Pants with pockets
  • Tourist pants
  • Pants "Mabuta"

Backpack is the thing i wouldn't recommend spending your money.
The advantage backpack offer's you completely useless , you can maintain the same effect
by just placing your skill point's into weight.
So the Kolobok or Sports bag should work good enough.
Weapons

Everyone in zone knows that people will take you serious only if you are strapped with a decent gun. So its time to discuss the weapon situation. The better the weapon the easier it is to kill mutants and bandits. Weapon you use should have cheap ammo , good penetration and affordable repairs.

The Starting Weapon
First of all pistol is not something i would recommend holding onto for long , since they are not really strong or useful later on. For beginning the shotgun TOZ-34 should be more then enough.
But as soon as possible you should try to get the cheapest version of Russian assault rifle

AKS74U

Getting the gun is quite simple. You can either trade in verliocka blood for in with Shtaket or just buy it at player market. As the gun itself is really easy to maintain since it barely cost anything.
Bullets are cheap and mag's are one of cheapest to.
AK74U - 400-500k rubles (With/Without barrel mod)
AK 30 round mag - 80-100k rubles

Its probably the gun you will hold onto for a quite long time , it will become your companion for hours and days. The moment you have enough for a quite bigger weapon you should think about AK74M or Series 100 - 103,104,105...

Secondary weapon is worth it , if you have extra money. My favorite weapon for secondary would be Saiga 12K isp.010 , it does kick a punch and with few extra mag's will save your life in worst situations.

Later on most of expensive weapons is personal choice to go for as they are quite expensive to maintain so you probably still want to keep an budget weapon for pve.
Money- Mutants,Artifacts,Quests.
Without money you went get far in the zone.
Money in zone means everything from gear to basic survival needs as food and water.

Quests

The quest's are not something to do as main money income , but some of the quests do reward quite well, i wont list and explain every quest you may want to do for eqiupment and money , but i would recommend checking the Stalker online/Stay out wiki ( It is in russian , but google translator works well enough on site)
I would recommend starting with scientist quest's since they do offer quite enough money.

Daily quest's are not something to be casual about , it might ruin your character for later on.
If a character offer's a daily quest doesn't mean you should do it for few thousand of rubles.
They do change your standing with factions for better and worse, so before taking the daily quests
do some research is it worth taking it for you. Since factions will look at you as an enemy and will shoot you if you fall bellow -999 standing with them.

There is a quest for 27.000 stalker reputation , it allows you to get end game gear(not full set)
for cheap , but it takes over a month to do that quest.

Mutants

Mutants are a good income for stalker as long as stalker knows what to kill and loot.
Before starting to farm mutant farms i would recommend to check your butchering skill tree,
it will buff your butchering speed and luck to gain better mutant parts.

Hogs are a good source of money for any day , it may not seem a lot , but getting Lard or Hide from boar rewards with quite decent money amount. As the legs and meat are not that bad either , Legs can pay for your ammo and meat is obviously good thing to keep if you ever get hungry.

Fiends Fiends are quite scary to deal with , but if there are few people in territory or you have a group , its a great source of money for advanced beginner. Fast fiends hand will pay you up to 12 000 rubles in player market or around 8 000 thousand for trader , so they are your main income from farm , as slow ones basically pays for your ammo from time to time if you loot them.
The lame ones are not worth your time tho , since they just eat your amunition.

Verliokas
As long as you aim for an eye they are quite easy to get rid of , They are great way to make you money , bandit reputation and experience. Tatar offers you a quest every 3 days to kill 300 verliokas , While doing the quest you collect a great ammount of verliokas leg's and gain quite a lot of XP. But the best thing is he pays for the quest itself 350k and gives a decent amount of experience + 300 bandit reputation every time. You can trade the verlioka legs for AKS74U or just sell them to other players and make money either way.
