What is this and why would I want it?

The game hasn't been patched on Steam for a long time, at this point it's highly unlikely that the developers will bother adding in the new languages found in other platforms.
You could also say that those same translation are not very good to begin with, and that's the reason why the end goal would be a complete proofreading and correction (already done in Spanish and Italian).

My language isn't in your list, what do i do?

The scope of this project is mainly to put the game on par with the console release by offering the full PAL MULTI5 experience (unfortunately Japanese has to be cut for technical reasons). There are however other patches available elsewhere, check the entry on PCGW[www.pcgamingwiki.com].

Current Limitations

Unfortunately, much of the game text (UI elements in particular) is stored as a prerendered texture, and while there is a tool right now that can extract it, it will take more time to replace them into the game. Some text is also stored into the .exe directly, and must be translated manually in each language (work is being done right now on that front).
In the state the project is right now, the main menu will remain the same, to check if the translation has been applied successfully simply start a new game and check Shantae's speech.

NOTE: The game, contrary to its more updated versions on other platforms doesn't support unicode characters (ie. accented letters, or special glyphs (¡ in Spanish is in this category), which is the reason I didn't even bother porting the Japanese translation, sorry). To prevent the game from crashing I replaced the single accented letters "àìòùèé" with "aiouee and ' at the end", and every other non-ascii letter outside that range with "-". I wish I could hack in Unicode support but my knowledge isn't enough right now (help from skilled romhackers would be greatly appreciated).
All of the above has been corrected by the patch released on 26/11/2021. French doesn't have its textures changed as I don't have a way of proofreading the actual text. If some competent translator wants to step in, they can be finished.

How can I help?

If you think like you have enough experience with x86 assembly and/or enough knowledge to work on top of this https://github.com/meh2481/wfLZEx, hit me up with a friend request and I'll discuss the details I know so far. If you are an average user, simply play the game in your language and note every oddity in the text beside those that i mentioned above, reporting them in the comment section.
All of the technical limitations have been lifted, all is needed now are people willing to review and correct the strings and mess around with photoshop files (not essential but would save me a couple hours of work).

Link is here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bS2UtuQn3bKWMrXn0IQx7MoXADGU1ZFH?usp=sharing. Download the zip file and extract everything in a folder. Run Apply Translation.bat and give it a valid game directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RiskysRevenge).
Then give it a number to apply the desired translation.
To uninstall, right click on the game in the steamlibrary, properties, local files, verify integrity.

19/04/2022 - GOG SUPPORT HAS BEEN ADDED! Make sure you have installed the "1.0.6.1" revision, when selecting the folder a "Detected GOG version" text should appear and everything should work just fine out of the box. A few corrections for German text have been included as well.

15/04/2022 - German textures are now included thanks to markoh00. Minor fixes for Italian and Spanish textures.

26/11/2021 - Second version released, added Windows 1252 support, textures redone and language files corrected, proofreaded and playtested for Italian and Spanish by Banz99 and Gross-Standard respectively.

23/10/2021 - First version released.

@SessesSniper, you probably skipped the wall of text, understandably, but just to specify, this is what WayForward shipped on console ported 1:1 to the steam release (that's why me and Gross-Standards revised italian and spanish). I don't have much free time lately, but I can send you the text file and have you manually correct stuff if you want to. Send me a friend request.

Hey dude i really appreciate your dedication and your work for this game. I am french myself and from what I've tested from this mod (which is only some menu things and the ambush dialogue in the very beginning) the french translation seems a bit off. Not judging, I know how much of a mess this language can be haha.

If you want, I would be more than happy to do some basic correction and translation to some UI elements and dialogue.

I've never done anything like that before and I have 0 experience in game/mod developing, but as I wanted to re-discover this game, I was curious if they ever released a french version, which apparently they only did so for the console versions for some reason. So after stumbling on your project I got motivated to contribute to it

Yo tuve el mismo problema de que el Script no funcionaba y era porque el Smart Screen de Windows 10 lo bloqueba. Así que para poder ejecutarlo sin inconvenientes hay que hacerlo directamente desde el CMD como administrador.
En la consola, usá el comando cd para entrar a la carpeta donde descomprimiste el parche (por ej: cd /d D:\Descargas\Shantae Risky's Revenge Translations) (El /d es para cambiar de disco si estás en otro (por ejemplo si estás en C: y querés ir a D:)
Una vez que estés posicionado en el directorio, escribís el nombre del script Applytranslations.bat (antes de ejecutarlo, te conviene renombrar el nombre del script sacándole el espacio, sino te da error)
le das Enter y seguís las instrucciones del script y listo.

Hola, ayer me compre la version de la Microsoft store y podias trabajar para que esa traduccion funcionase en esa version, por lo que vi tiene archivos casi similares pero menos archivos (https://ibb.co/SPfxx3z) y que por lo tanto el peso es de la mitad que el de la version de steam (https://ibb.co/qN4CGxr) . A mi me pasaba lo mismo, pero ejecutando el .bat desde el cmd ejecutando como administrador me ha funcionado perfectamente

Disculpa, pero al momento de ejecutar el .bat, seleccionar la carpeta de la ruta especificada y agregar el idioma, (en mi caso el español) me sale errores de "el sistema no pudo encontrar la ruta especificada", y también "utils\paktools.exe" no se reconoce como un comando interno o externo,
programa o archivo por lotes ejecutable.
El sistema no puede encontrar el archivo especificado.
Seguido de eso, el juego solo traduce los textos del menú a medias y se estropea los diálogos de las partida.
Desearía que me explicaran si se puede solucionar este problema o existe algún otro método para poder cambiar el idioma del juego, gracias por su comprensión
