Welcome to the Guide!
In this guide I will be covering all 20 events, including the doubles tennis and table tennis events and my tips and tricks on how to improve your gameplay generally so you can snag a victory!

Some of the games are FAR harder than others, whereas in most cases you simply need to look at the in game tips or hope the AI isn't going to be cruel. (Sometimes the AI just decides it's going to win in some games.)

I have only played with a controller so if you need keyboard tips I cannot help you.

SO let's get to it!
100 Metre Race
The 100 metre sprint is quite a straight forward one. I can only think of a few tips for this one, most people can get this medal without any help. These are the tips:

1. Hold down LT (Left trigger) once the SET has disappeared to power up your athlete. If you hold it too early or late it won't be as effective.

2. Press the A button at the same time as the GO appears on the screen for an added boost.

2. An instructional last spurt pops up on the screen, don't press them instantly, wait half a second first to get the best benefit.

3. Press LB (Left button) just before you cross the line to lean. It gives a very small boost and if it's done too early you will lose A LOT of time.

If anyone has any additional advice, leave it in the comments and I'll consider adding it.
110m Hurdles race.
Quite similar to the 100 metre race, another quite simple gold medal. I have found that I beat the olympic record twice and still got beaten by the AI in this one though so you just have to attempt it a few times. Here's the tips:

1. Hold down LT (Left trigger) once the SET has disappeared to power up your athlete. If you hold it too early or late it won't be as effective.

2. Press the A button at the same time as the GO appears on the screen for an added boost.

2. Flick upwards on the left joystick to jump, making sure that you are jumping in the purple perfect zone to increase speed. The more perfects you hit, the more you speed up.

3. Press LB (Left button) just before you cross the line to lean. It gives a very small boost and if it's done too early you will lose A LOT of time.
4x100m Relay race
Quite different other running races, but some of the tips and tricks are the same for getting the gold in this particular event.

1. Hold down LT (Left trigger) once the SET has disappeared to power up your athlete. If you hold it too early or late it won't be as effective.

2. This is probably the most important tip.As you reach the start of the baton handover, you want to hold down LT then as well to power up the athlete before you flick upwards on the left joystick.

3. Press the A button at the same time as the GO appears on the screen for an added boost.

4. Press LB (Left button) just before you cross the line to lean. It gives a very small boost and if it's done too early you will lose A LOT of time.
Long Jump
Moving onto the next track event, the long jump. I've been told this one is easier to do on keyboard, but i managed to get a gold with a controller. To beat the AI on this one, you need to get a perfect jump that activates the animation.

The three things are super obvious because they come up at the end of each attempt. It's the speed of the run-up, the perfect 45 degree angle jump and how close your foot is to the white line that you jump from. If you get all three combined it activates a perfect jump animation and you usually jump over 9 metres and are guaranteed to win.

Unfortunately this is just one of those events you need to keep practicing on to succeed. The only bonus tips I can think of are:

1. Getting over 6.5 metres before the third jump helps as they you can clap to get audience interaction which boosts your jump.

2. Press X (on an xbox controller) at the top of the jump and it boosts the distance. (This is not applicable to the perfect jump, but helpful in the qualifiers of semi finals on normal jumps.)

Hammer Throw
One of the easiest (and my favourite) events in the game. Most people will get a gold from this with only a few attempts and usually get an olympic record very quickly.

I've found that spinning the circles more accurately rather than faster seems to get you more distance. If you spin too quickly and "skip" parts of the circle and don't do a full circle you will get less distance. Speed is obviously vital for the event, but try to find a good balance between speed and accuracy.

Other than that, as long as you hit the perfect timing on the throw, you'll most likely win.
100m Freestyle
Another differently styled one to the other race events. In this race you want to focus on the rhythm and timing of your swimming strokes.

Even if your strokes aren't perfect all the time, you will have two things that can save your race time. These things are:

1. When you turn into the second half of the race, landing the perfect on the edge of the pool for a fast turn around.

OR

2. Timing your final sprint well. This is the real make or break part of your race. If you press LB too early you'll burn out and then go INCREDIBLY slowly and probably come dead last. If you press it too late you'll not catch up to the pack enough to win. Sadly, like some of the other games, this is more about practice than it is about tricks to instantly win!
200m Individual Medley
The next and final swimming event, the 200 metre individual medley. There is only one real tip for this one that is important:

1. PACING! I cannot stress this enough! Ignore the AI as they will speed off in the beginning. The stamina bar is helpfully split into four parts and there are four types of strokes in this event. If you perfectly use a quarter of your stamina in each part then you'll most likely win in your first attempt.

2. If this doesn't seem to work for you, then save a tiny bit more stamina in the first 3 parts of the race and then use LOADS in the final sprint to catch up and then overtake your opponents.

I have found both methods work, if you play around with how you want to save your stamina you can achieve better times, but these two methods are good enough for the gold.
Football
One of the coolest games (even if it is glitchy) because you can win in SO many different ways. I'll list a few different ways to beat the team in the finals.

1. Use the right joystick to dribble past your opponents! Even in the finals, they very rarely tackle you while you are doing these skills. This enables you to run past them and get in the box and shoot!

2. Holding LT lets you control the goalkeeper in tight spots! If the opponents have got past your defence you can run the goalkeeper out and stop them before they shoot.

3. I would avoid the Y button personally. I've never seen it work in many situations and 95% of the time you instantly lose the ball from trying to play a through ball.

4. Run down the edge of the pitch! This is a cheese tactic for people who aren't good at the game. If you have the ball and run down the edge, when you are tackled it will almost always be your throw in and you can just throw the ball and keep running down the edge. Once you have got to the corner you can pass it to an open player in the box and shoot.

5. I don't personally do this, but I have seen people use the X button to clear the ball towards the other side of the field. Then they use the striker to run past the defence and get the ball first and be through on goal to shoot. (I've seen this work in multiplayer, I've not tested this against the AI)

I probably won't add suggestions from the comments in this section because it is more about personal preference of play, rather than one thing being better than another. This is why I listed many options, but it is by no means an exhausted list.
Rugby Sevens
One of the easiest sport games there is once you know the controls. I've also found a really easy cheat to win the gold very quickly. Here's the tips:

1. Using the sprint in this game is an easy way to cheat. Once you start to slow down and the sprint starts to wear off, you can let go of the button and then instantly press it again. If you do this a few times in a row the AI won't catch up to you and you can run straight through to the end.

2. The same as the football, if you flick the right joystick you will do a skill action. While this action is running you cannot be tackled and is useful for getting around the defence. If you use the skill and then instantly press X (The guard button) afterwards, it prevents you from losing the ball and being tackled.

3. Use the guard! It gives you loads of time to be able to pass the ball across once you get tackled.

4. If you do start to struggle and the opponent are about to score, once you tackle them you can drop kick the ball back across to their side of the pitch. I don't remember what button this is so I'll go have a look and update this guide afterwards.

These tips alone should secure the gold. If you still aren't winning though then try to use the running down the edge of the pitch tactic like in the football. (As long as you are good at the timing of the jump at the throw in.)
Tennis
I found the finals in the tennis to actually be pretty difficult, but I found with a bit of practice there are some good ways to make the opponent move out of position so you can win. This is what personally worked for me:

1. Using the Y button to lob your opponent. If the opponent comes close to the net you can press the Y button and usually they won't get back in time to get to the ball.

2. You can also press the Y button and hold backwards at the same time. This does a drop shot which makes the ball fall close to the net. This can be used if the opponent is standing on the edge of the court and is far away from the net. Using the lob and the drop shot together is very effective in moving your opponent around so you can control the game.

3. Press the A button as soon as you possibly can. The faster you press it, the more your shot powers up and the harder you hit the ball. If you charge up for long enough you can hit a meteor shot which the opponent will struggle to hit back!

4. Avoid slice serves and slice shots. I tried to play around with these by press the X or B button, but it seems to really slow down the shot and never gets enough slice on the ball to get past the opponent. (It might work for you, but in my experience, it never did.)

5. Always expect your opponent to return your special shot. 90% of the time in the finals I was caught off guard thinking I got an easy point, only for the opponent to hit back my special shot.

Tennis Doubles

I was going to add a separate section for tennis doubles, but honestly the advice is exactly the same. Your partners used to be really bad, but they updated the game and now they are actually quite helpful.
Table Tennis
Quite an easy event, you simply have to stick to a few key principles.

1. After you have hit the ball, return to the centre of the table. This way your character has a much better chance at returning the ball in the next shot. The only exception to this rule is if the opponent is stood on a sharp angle and hitting it diagonally across the table. In this case you have to stand on the opposite angle.

2. Similar to tennis, always be prepared for the opponent in the finals to return your special hit, as they often do and can catch you off guard.

Table Tennis Doubles

I was going to add a separate section for table tennis doubles as well, but it's the same situation as tennis doubles. Your partners used to be really bad, but they updated the game and now they are actually quite helpful.

In table tennis you can sort of just push your partner out of the way when making shots, so they can't block you which is nice too.
Baseball
There is only one thing for baseball that helped me go from zero to hero!

Learning how to power up my hits so I can properly hit home runs!
^ This tip is easily the most important thing to remember in this event. You do this by holding LT until it locks into position. (You also need to accurately time it so you lock in to the right slot where the ball is going to be thrown) Then if you hit the ball you will get a home run!

Here are some other helpful tips:

1. Constantly change the type of pitch you are going to throw and constantly move the box you are going to pitch the ball into. The faster you move around the boxes (even sometimes deliberately missing) the more likely you are to make the opponent swing when they aren't supposed to, or miss their shot.

2. Never hit the ball with no power up at all. This will almost always result in the defence catching you out. Even if you don't hit a super shot and get a home run, at least hold LT for a little bit to add some extra juice to your hit!

3. Don't bother trying to bunt. I tried it many times and it never seemed to work against the AI in the finals.
Basketball
I don't particularly like this event, but luckily for me it only took a few attempts to get gold in this one. There's a couple of pointers I managed to pick up in my short time in the event.

1. Learn how to block shots. You can jump up by pressing X and if you time it right you can block a shot or stop someone from getting a quick lay up shot.

2. Use the right joystick like in football in rugby. When you use this skill, you cannot have the ball taken from you and it opens up space for a free shot. When you get into space and get a free shot, the shot is far more likely to go in.

3. Don't spam the steal button when defending. It almost never works. You need to get in front of the attacker and stop them and make them stand still first. THEN you can try to steal.

4. Always try for 3 pointers. The entire time I played I didn't bother with the 2 point shots. This is because it's very hard to defend and by scoring you give the opponent the ball and then if they score a 3 pointer, you're already 1 point behind.
Boxing
Honestly? Getting this gold medal was the hardest thing I've accomplished in this entire game. This one game alone took up so many hours and it was SO difficult. The AI has a giant advantage against you in this event and you need to be very skilful in order to win.

My recommendations may not work because I feel I got a bit lucky with the gold medal in this one, but anyway, here's what eventually worked for me.

1. Don't spam punches, instead wait to do some perfect blocks or sidestep your opponents punches. Wait for an open window to punch and then throw a few jabs and a straight, maybe even end with a body blow, BUT after that quickly sidestep or block because the opponent will be straight back onto their assault.

2. Go on the move list and learn every type of punch and move you can do. The body punch is especially important for attacking while the opponent is blocking. The jab is great for stopping the opponent to be able to throw punches and slow them down a bit. The uppercut has one of the best ranges, but can be slow, so use sparingly. The hook is also quite slow, but can be used more often than the uppercut.

2. Save up your special attacks to use them all in one blast! Once you get all three bars saved up, hit him with a special uppercut or maybe a hook and backhand combo! If you save up your stamina you have a good chance of knocking him down with a more powerful special attack or two special attacks in a row. This MIGHT be enough to win you the round by itself if you are good.

3. If you see the AI has their special saved up, try to wait for it and sidestep it or block it if you can. The AI in the final gets their specials more often and faster than you, so you need to be able to stop him from hitting you with all of them!

4. Be lucky. (Honestly this event is so hard it made me want to smash me keyboard)

Please leave your view in the comments as there has to be a better way than my way.

Judo
In comparison to boxing, judo is an absolute cake walk! I was super relieved to see how easy it was after playing boxing! You should be able to earn gold with no advice, but here's some tips anyway if you're struggling.

1. Always strike first if possible. The more often you get the grapple instead of your opponent, the more they lose more stamina than you. This way, even if you don't get an ippon from the little button spamming section, you will beat your opponent by making them run out of stamina first. Once your opponent is out of stamina, if you grapple them, you instantly win.

2. Make use of the Y button. This stops those pesky sleeve grabs you're opponent keeps trying to get in the finals. It pulls your hand away and counters the grapple so it cannot begin.

3. Make use of LB and RB. The two different VERY powerful special moves will make the fights very easy. RB makes your character dash across the arena towards your opponent and commences a grapple from much further away than you can normally. LB is a collar grab that if you are successful in getting, you win instantly.

There is more to this game like counters and other tips and tricks, but this is enough to win the gold medal by itself. I may update this section later on to add the extra tips for the ultra keen beans.
Sport Climbing
This one is quite similar to boxing, in which the AI is on steroids and is incredibly hard to beat without a lot of practice. However all the in game tips are super helpful in this mode and can help lead you to victory. Here's some extra knowledge you might not know:

1. Don't be too fast and just constantly mishit all the climbing holds. This will only slow you down. You need to find a good balance between speed and accuracy in order to unlock the super jumping and special moves.

2. Briefly mentioned in the first tip, when the climbing holds start to turn orange, that means you've unlocked the super jumps. Instead of flicking the joysticks upwards, you flick them backwards in the opposite direction of the hold. This flings you up and further than the normal path.

3. Use the left joystick if you're player is using his left hand to grab and the right joystick if the player is using his right hand to grab. If the hold is on the right and you use the left joystick, the player slows down quite a lot to use the wrong hand to climb.

4. (I don't do this, but people have told me this is beneficial.) Some people try to press the pause button in order to line up each individual climbing hold. Once lined up they unpause, let the player jump to the next hold and then pause the game again. Apparently this takes a lot of time, but it is effective.

Similar to the boxing event, I am not an expert in this one and open to new ideas.
Beach Volleyball
This one isn't tooooo hard to accomplish, with a little practice. There are some quite simple DO's and DON'Ts in this event.

1. DON'T use the X button to jump up and block shots. This works in the qualifiers and semi finals, but in the finals the opponent always hits it over your character.

2. DO change up your types of serves. You can either do a float serve by tapping A or a spiking serve by holding A. Changing this up seems to make the opponents slightly more sluggish and they don't hit a return quite as hard as usually.

3. DON'T give up when the opponents keep equalising. It seems to be part of the mechanics of this event to not let you win easily. I had many game go as far as 9-9 before I won because the opponents kept evening the scores. Just be patient and keep smashing back!

4. DO let your partner spike the ball sometimes. They are actually quite helpful at times and can hit a perfect shot occasionally, so don't be afraid to let them help if you are struggling. (Sometimes they also suck though so be careful. They are very 50/50.)

BMX
Another event that I'm not a huge fan of. However, I spent enough time to get gold on it so I can give you a few tips.

1. Holding the left joystick backwards makes the BMX do a wheelie and holding the left joystick forwards makes your character lean forwards. If timed properly, you can tilt back and forward and get a boost on the little mini hills on the course.

2. SPAM the A button constantly! There seems to be absolutely no downside to smashing the A button the entire race, it actually seems to be helpful even on corners.

3. LT and RT can sometimes be helpful. When I'm stuck on in the pack at the start of a race I like to hold one of the triggers to bounce into an opponent on a corner and it bounces me further forwards in the pack.

4. A basic one that is in the tips screen in the game is to jump at the correct time on the big jumps for the perfect jump. This boosts your speed and can be crucial for victory.

in Judo, a good strategy would also be to wait for your opponent to strike, then immediately break away then grab your opponent. The game registers it as a counter, and so they will lose marginally more stamina.

In boxing, there is no such thing as a perfect defence. Every possible move you make or stance you adopt can be countered by a punch or a defensive move. This, your goal is to predict your opponent while remaining unpredictable.

Luckily, CPU opponents are a lot easier than human opponents because they generally follow the same patterns. If your only goal is to get a gold medal in the single player mode, then play conservatively. Wait for your opponent to attack, then either tap the block button to get a perfect block, or step to the side and counter with an inner straight punch/uppercut or an outer hook. If you score a perfect block, make sure to counter immediately to do as much damage as you can before your opponent recovers.

Assuming an equal number of knockdowns in a round, you will win the round if you deal out more damage than you take.

I recommend trying out each of the Z ability types to see which one is your favourite. My personal recommendation is technique Z, but you should pick the ability type that matches your personal play style the best. If you focus on refining your technique and tricking your opponent, then technique Z may be right for you. If your button mashing skills are top notch for racing and you favour a defensive play style with an appropriate amount of power, go for speed Z. If you prefer an extremely powerful offensive build with a minimal focus on defence, go for power Z.
Ymphaso 2023 年 5 月 14 日 上午 2:36
Technique Z also changes up your tactics for the 1v1 and 2v2 events. In general, your ball speed will be at its slowest for events like beach volleyball and tennis. However, your ball control will be at its highest. This allows you to move the ball destination cursor at really high speed in volleyball. Table tennis spins also become a lot more effective, making your perfect top spins extremely fast and your back spins extremely slow. As for tennis, your slice shots, drop shots, and lob shots are extremely effective compared to the standard straight shot.
Ymphaso 2023 年 5 月 14 日 上午 2:36
One thing to note for events is that the ability type of your character and your teammates plays a major role in your performance. For example, I recommend using technique Z for your starter character and speed Z for your teammates in 4x100m Relay. Technique Z gives you the strongest possible starting boost, while speed Z gives you the highest possible top speed.

With technique Z, the racing events in general become a lot easier than they would otherwise be with speed Z. The rationale here is that if you can achieve a perfect start, you just need to maintain your starting advantage to win.
