As for Auxilliary it depends on the preference for tactics you use. I feel deep pain inside every time a unit that doesn't carry over scores a kill (for killing unit traits) or xp. Also it take a trait point. But I can see the value in quickly capturing distant points that are simply too far away from main force.
I just don't see the worth of Operational Initiative in SCW. High initiative is most efficient when used by more powerful units that can suppress and/or kill efficiently with first strike. In SCW your units will be weak and unexperienced, striking first generally won't have much of an impact.
In regards to your General's allocation of skills shouldn't you give them out with the total game in mind and not just the Spanish campaign as you will continue to use him once completed?
I have struggled with this game in the past so any input is appreciated.
