What To Do if the Killer is Camping a Hook (v2)
由 Ume Ito 制作
(Guide rewrote on 23/08/2021)
A revamped guide using clearer language and going a bit more in-depth on how to handle a camping killer. I remade this guide because toxic killer mains cannot handle any form of critique, whether direct or indirect. Mind you that does not represent ALL killer mains, just the toxic ones.

If you feel personally attacked by this guide, please take a step back and do some self-reflection. I shouldn't have to spell things out for you.

What is Camping?
Camping is hovering around the same area for an extended period of time. Whether it's to protect something or take advantage of a really good position, camping genuinely has its moments and is sometimes needed. Dead by Daylight is no exception, camping is necessary in some scenarios. However, it's not good as a start-to-finish strategy. It can pay off sometimes, but you open yourself up to some serious counter-abuse if you camp the entire match.

There are two main types of camping when it comes to downed or hooked survivors. Face camping is to stand directly next to the survivor and not leave them and proxy camping is to circle the area, trying to intercept incoming saviors before they arrive.
Do Generators
The main way to counter a camper is to force the main objective of the game; generators. You should always have at least one person doing generators, as well as spreading out generator progress to increase map pressure against the killer should they give up the camp or kill the survivor.

Note that a single two-minute hook will not be enough time to do all five generators, so this strategy isn't foolproof. However, it does push the main objective and using the time against the killer is very crucial. It will help once the camping phase is over and the killer is looking for their next target.

Now mind you, if the killer has a strong build with perks and add-ons, as well as adds slugging with the camping, your chances of counterplay are significantly worsened. Sometimes you'll be forced to go for saves, so...
Saving the Campee
Going for the save is going to be rough and in most cases will award the killer with a 4k as them camping is doing exactly what it's intended to do; punish incoming saviors. Having Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, We'll Make It, Kindred, and other various perks and items could help a lot. If the killer is willing to be distracted, that could also allow for an incredibly close save.

It all comes down to just how dedicated the killer is to camping the target. You need to know when you have a chance to save them and when you just need to leave them to die. It never feels good to do that, but you sometimes really don't have the choice.
You're the Campee!
So, you're the one on the hook, huh? It's really simple then;

Waste the killer's time. Spend as much time as you can with them on your trail, don't get greedy at loops if you're off the hook and don't do things like trying to 4% in first stage or missing skill checks in second stage. You need to seriously buy as much time for your team as possible. If you go down, try to do it in a pallet or open area for flashlight saves, even if there's nobody nearby it should make the killer cautious. If you're in a dead zone, just bolt into a corner of the map so they spend more time walking to a hook. Do any and everything you can to buy time for your team and don't bother getting your hopes up about survival, the first campee almost never makes it out in these scenarios.
What Not to Do
For one, don't let campers dig under your skin. If this is what they're resorting to to guarantee a single kill and hope for a cheap 4k, just know you've already won where it matters. If you think me making this guide is me letting them dig under my skin, it's really not. I want to help other survivors out because I see a lot of them going for saves when they should be forcing the objective.

As for what you shouldn't do in-game, going for really unsafe unhooks is definitely one of them. Doing it while the killer is right there isn't going to help, even with BT. Hiding is another thing that's not going to help in any capacity. I understand the desire to just wait the hooks out and try to get a hatch escape in, trust me I know that feeling all too well, but letting the killer get free sacrifices doesn't help your own survival rate by any means.

Aside from those specific notes, the rest of this is just playing by ear. There's no foolproof plan to counter this kind of playstyle and to be honest, if you're solo-queue, you're most likely not making it out in this scenario. All you can do is play around the rest of the lobby, survivors and killer alike.
Closing Notes
I'm going to re-enable comments but I'm enforcing the same policy I have on my own profile; deliberately mean comments are being deleted. I don't mind if you disagree with this guide or have a different stance, but trying to start a flame war is a no-go. Don't be part of the problem, seriously.

As I said last section, there's no such thing as a foolproof strategy. You have to play by ear and some really dedicated killers have got this entire strategy down to a T. Speaking of those killers, I said it at the start but not all killer mains have this toxic mentality. To those that do, however, I wish you luck in dealing with whatever made you that way.

Oh yeah NOED is rough and it especially compliments a build like this. Totem cleansing is a significant usage of your time and sometimes isn't an option when you have to focus on gen progress instead.

Like I said, there are some killers that are devoted to this kind of playstyle. You're not gonna be able to do much against a build geared exclusively for it.

The only problem i have with Noed is the fact that it rewards the killers for being bad over all rewarding them for failure. One can argue yes survivors can break totems but does that mean they should be drastically punished for just playing the game?

Rewrote this guide top to bottom to be more clear and less wrote-in-a-single-hour style. I'm re-opening comments but I'm using the same aggression I have with my profile on keeping you lil toxic ones out of it.

I don't play survivor much But I do think that solo players need a ping system.

I always get upset when solo queing, I'll have 2 teammates go for a teammate hooked in basement by bubba, to then all get hooked. Or even if one goes, when everyone sticks on gens instead of trying to rescue you can probably escape with everyone alive, or with 2 at worst. But if you go try to rescue its almost garunteed 0 escape (Or maybe 1 if you're lucky with hatch and the killer hooks them and they get to final hook quick)

Absolutely Tief, NOED is so easily countered when the killer spends all game camping a single hook and never gets the opportunity to back people into a corner.

Finally. Hope some people will read this. Because it is the only thing that works. People who are camping normally don't encounter people who know how to counter.
Lose the mentality that everyone needs to survive. Make the killer pay by him getting 1k tops.
That's exactly the problem with Survivors crying about NOED. Yes it is very oppressive. But NOED mostly benefits the killer when you try to unhook instead of focussing on your own survival.
