This Final Fantasy game is a little different than the rest of the series. There's no player leveling here. Instead, you'll raise your stats as you combat, use an equipment, or cast an spell.
Unlike Final Fantasy I, this title has at least three missable achievements:

1. Legendary Treasure Hunter - Collected treasure from 100% of the chests.
   
2. Adventurous Wayfarer - Traveled to all the map locations.
   
3. Memory Lane - Learned all passwords.

My team was:

• Firion: White Mage (gave him the white mage tomes).
  
• Maria: Black Mage (gave her the black mage tomes).
  
• Guy: Physical Attacker.
  
• Ever changing character: Physical Attacker mostly.

Cost for resting at the Inns varies depending on your taken damage.
Try to stick with at least one spell and equipment throughout the game as there an achievement for reaching level 16 with one of each type. You should easily reach level 16 with Cure if you use it all the time to heal your party members.

The Item Shop is the same for all the towns in the game:

• The first battle is unwinnable. Simply attack or defend. You'll lose either way.
  
• After the long opening scenes, choose:

  • Exit
  
  
• Leave through the south exit.
  
• Go down the stairs and west to find a chest. Open it for a Potion. [1/234]

• Head back to the middle area, then go south all the way to exit the hideout.

Altair

• You can farm Gil outside the town and then come back to purchase the other spells.
  
• I personally gave the Fire tome to Maria and the Cure to Firion.
  
• Once you're done with your purchases, head left to exit the town.

Overworld

• Head north over the bridge and northwest until finding a house.
  
• Head inside.

Gatrea

• Not much to do here.
  
• Just know that this city exists and that we have to visit all locations for an achievement later.
  
• Leave once you're done.

Overworld

• Head west over the bridge, then north following the lake.
  
• Then east, and finally south to reach Fynn.

• Save and enter the town.

Fynn

• Be extremely careful here.
  
• Don't talk or get closer to the guards or you'll get into an unwinnable battle.
  
• Having said that, head all the way north until reaching a fence but don't go too far or you'll be returned to the overworld. Instead, walk right outside the fence and to the right.

• At the end of the path, head south and then enter the Pub.

• Remember to not talk with the soldiers unless you want to die.
  
• Approach to the bartender and choose:
  
  
  • Ask → Wild Rose
  
  
• Once he leaves, go right to find a secret room with three chests.

• Open them for Potion, Potion, and Potion respectively. [4/234]

• Once done, talk to the man in bed and choose:

• You'll receive the Key Item: Scott's Ring.
  
• Go back to the overworld: Up the stairs then left, then out the pub, then right.

• Make your way back to Altair.
  
• Remember that you can revisit Gatrea at any time if you need to rest.

• Purchase the remaining spell Tomes if you haven't yet.
  
• Then head into the Rebel Hideout, building to the right of the Inn.
  
• Head all the way north to enter the throne room.
  
• Talk to Hilda and choose:

  • Exit

• Talk to Minwu next.
  
• He'll join your party and give you the Key Item: Canoe.

• This spell is extremely important and you will be using it for the rest of the game.
  
• I gave it to Firion, my White Mage.
  
• Once done with your purchases, talk to the pirate near the entrance and buy a ticket.

• Leave the town after purchasing at ticket.

Overworld

• Board the ship just below Paloom.
  
• You'll dock near a town. Head inside.

Poft

• Shops are exactly the same as the ones from Paloom.
  
• From the entrance, head west and enter the Pub.
  
• Talk to Cid, the person with unique dress:

• Talk to the man to the right of Cid:

• Exit the town and board the airship.
  
• You'll land near a town. Head inside.

Salamand

• Magic Shop is way too expensive atm.

• Enter the house next to the pink dressed lady.

Overworld

• Head west until reaching a small stream.

• Step on it to use the Canoe and go east until finding an entrance.

• Head inside.

Semitt Falls - B1

Don't waste your MP as you'll need them for the battle against one of the bosses.

• Head south.
  
• Now, head west (ignore the blue crystal as it does nothing for now).
  
• Head south again to a split.
  
• Go west to find a chest with 200 Gil. [5/234]

• Go back to the split and head east this time for another split.
  
• Go south and then east for a chest with 400 Gil. [6/234]

• Now go all the way west and take the stairs leading down.

Semitt Falls - B2

• Follow linear path to an split and then go northwest for a chest with Eye Drops. [7/234]

• Backtrack to the intersection and go northeast for yet another chest containing Hi-Potion. [8/234]

• Backtrack once again to the split and go to southeast.
  
• Open the chest on the way for a Potion. [9/234]

• Continue through the linear path until reaching four doors.
  
• Take the far left door and head downstairs.

Semitt Falls - B3

• From the entrance, head all the way south to find a chest with 200 Gil. [10/234]

• Head back up to the split and go west.
  
• Now at the next split, go south and through the bridge for a chest with 250 Gil. [11/234]

• Go back to the previous intersection: cross the bridge east and north, and go west.
  
• Enter the far left room to reach your destination.
  
• Talk to Paul, person next to the little girl.
  
• Once they leave, go right and take the stairs leading down.

Semitt Falls - B4

• Go west and north across the bridge to find a chest with Fire Tome. [12/234]

• Head south and east across the bridge.
  
• You'll reach a 4-way split.
  
• Go north and follow the linear path until the stairs. Head down.

Semitt Falls - B5

• Green Slime shows up here.
  
• From the entrance, take the bridge all the way to the west, then go north, then east to a chest.
• DON'T open it yet.

• Heal up and quick-save, then open the chest. [13/234]

• This boss is pretty much invulnerable to physical hits.
  
• Make use of your saved MP and throw decently leveled spells.
  
• I had fire 3 by this point so I took the boss down within 3 turns.
  
• You'll receive Teleport Tome as reward for winning the battle.
  
• Give the Tome to any of your Mages.
  
  
• Now backtrack to the entrance and go north.
  
• Head through the left door.
  
• Heal up and quick-save before interacting with the soldier.

• This boss is pretty resistant to physical damage so you'll have to pretty much rely on magic again.
  
• Cast barrier on all your party members with Minwu during the first turn and then spam spells on the boss is down.
  
• After winning, open the chest to get the Key Item: Mythril. [14/234]

• That's all we can do here for now: 10/11 treasure chests.
  
• Feel free to use Teleport spell to get out of the dungeon.
  
• You can also walk your way out if you ran out of MP.

Overworld

• Make your way back to Salamand, rest at the Inn if needed, and then go out.
  
• Once ready, go east and then south through the mountains and woods to reach Poft.
  
• Head inside.

Poft

• Speak to the pirate and buy a ticket back to Paloom.
  
• Exit the town.

Overworld

• Board the ship back to Paloom.
  
• Don't enter Paloom, instead, go west back to Altair.
  
• Enter the town.

• Enter the Rebels Hideout and make your way to the throne.

• After the scene, go back inside the cave.

• Go right and step on the warp pad to get teleported out the town.

• Your next stop is Semitt Falls: West from Salamand.
  
• Then, take the Canoe east through the small stream and enter the Cave.

• Head west and the blue rock.
  
• Examine the top right wall and go through the hidden passage.

• Open the chest to receive the Key Item: Snowcraft. [18/234]
  
• That was the chest we missed during our first run. We should now be at 11/11 for this location. Press Q and then TAB to check.
  
• Exit Semitt Falls.

Overworld

• Go west to reach the end of the small stream.
  
• Then go east a bit, then north towards the snowfield.
  
• Once you reach the entrance of the snowfield, go east to automatically use the Snowcraft.
  
• Follow the linear path until a cave and head inside.

Snow Cavern - B1

• From the entrance, go west and then north through a long bridge.
  
• Now go all the way west for a chest with 300 Gil. [19/234]

• Go back a few steps to the split and head south, then east for another chest with 350 Gil. [20/234]

• Now go back, south, and east to find the stairs leading down.

Snow Cavern - B2

• Follow the linear path to the next set of stairs.

Snow Cavern - B3

• From the entrance, take the north path first to find a chest with Antartic Wind.[21/234]

• Backtrack to the entrance and take the south path now.
  
• You'll reach a split, go north and upstairs.

Snow Cavern - B2

• Head south and then east at the split to find a chest with a Battle Axe inside. [22/234]

• Go back to the split, then south, then west to find another chest with Antidote. [23/234]

The previous achievement might not unlock until finishing a battle.

• Now go through the west path to find yet another chest.

• Open the chest for Monsters! (Grenade x6) → Mythril Mace. [24/234]

Snow Cavern - B3

• From the entrance, head all the way south and then follow the linear path to a stairs.

Snow Cavern - B4

• From the previous chest, head immediately south all the way to the bottom of the screen to find a chest with a Potion. [27/234]

• Now go all the way north to find the stairs leading the next floor.

Snow Cavern - B5

• From the stairs, go all the way west to find a chest with Mythril Shield. [29/234]

• Go back east, then south, then southwest to find yet another chest.

• Open the chest for Monsters! (3x Shadow, 3x Ghoul) → Ancient Sword. [30/234]
  
• Now, head to the opposite side of the room to find a door. Go through it.
  
• Speak to the Giant Beaver at the top of the room:

• Go through the secret passage on the far eastern wall to reach the next floor.

Snow Cavern - B6

• Follow the linear path to find a chest and a boss at the end.

• Now heal up and save before interacting with the giant turtle.

• This battle plays out much like the one against Land Turtle in Semitt Falls. The Adamantoise is basically invulnerable to physical attacks, so abuse your best spells such as blizzard and the battle will be done within a few rounds.
  
• After the battle, examine the yellow object on the wall. You'll receive the Key Item: Goddess's Bell.
  
• Go through the door that appears.

Snow Cavern - B1

• Remove all Josef equipment as he'll be leaving the party soon.
  
• Also heal up and quick-save before interacting with the man on the bridge.

• This is an extremely easy fight. Just auto-attack until winning.
  
• Once you regain control, leave the cave.

Overworld

• Make your way back to Poft.
  
• Feel free to rest at Salamand if you need to.

Poft

• Enter the Pub and talk to the man next to Cid:
  
  
  • Yes → Kashuan
  
  
• Leave the town and board the airship.
  
• Enter the Castle.

Kashuan Keep - 1F

• Land Turtles and Adamantoises show up here as normal encounters.
  
• Head straight up and interact with the door:

Kashuan Keep - 4F

• Go through the door.
  
• Heal up and quick-save before interacting with the boss.

• There aren't many tips to give here. I pretty much auto-attacked and won within a few turns.
  
• This boss absorbs all elements so magic ain't an option.
  
• After the battle, walk into the room north and open the chest to receive the Key Item: Egil's Torch. [42/234]

• We're done with this dungeon. Use Teleport spell to return to the overworld.

Kashuan Keep - 1F

• Go north and interact with the Sunfire:

• From the castle, go directly south to find your next destination: Chocobo Forest.

• Interact with the Chocobo to ride him in the overworld.

• On the Chocobo, go around the mountains (south, then west, then north) and continue north until finding Basfk, then go north a bit, west another bit, and south to reach Poft.
  
• From Poft, head west, then south through the large forest, and stop at Paloom.
  
• Get out of the Chocobo and paddle through the lake, then go across the bridge and enter Altair.

Altair

• Enter the Rebel Hideout and talk to Minwu, then head out.
  
• Rest at the Inn and purchase anything you need before leaving the town.

Overworld

• From Altair, head north to Gatrea, then paddle through the river to reach Fynn.
  
• From Fynn, continue northwest past the forests and marshlands until reaching the Dreadnought (refer to the screenshot below for the exact location).

• Enter the dreadnought.

Dreadnought - 1F

All chests here are missable. If you finish this location without collecting all chests, you won't be able to get the achievement for collecting all chests in the game.
None of the bestiary entries here are missable.

• Head up and talk to the guard:

• Try to not talk to the soldiers roaming this area or you'll get yourself into a battle against a Captain.
  
• They're extremely powerful and this version won't contribute towards your bestiary, so it's better if you just avoid them.

Dreadnought - 2F

• Go down two steps to get on the same level as the chest on the right and then go all the way east.
  
• Open the chest for Monsters! (Sergeant x2, Soldier x3, Magician x3) → Sleep Blade [43/234]

• Go back downstairs.

Dreadnought - 1F

• Go west a bit and up the stairs to the north.
  
• At the top, go west and open the chest for 600 Gil. [44/234]

• Now head all the way east, then east at the split and follow the path until a door.
  
• Go through it and take the stairs down.

Dreadnought - 2F

• Follow the path until the first split. Once there, go east to find two chests.
  
• Open both for a Hi-Potion and a Potion. [46/234]

• Backtrack to the previous intersection and go west and west again to find another chest.
  
• Open the chest for Dark Bow. [47/234]

• Go back to the previous intersection and head south this time.
  
• Open the chest for Thief's Gloves. [48/234]

• Now head east and interact with the green door to open Hilda and Cid's cell.
  
• Talk to Hilda and Cid so they leave the ship.
  
• Leave the cell and go back to previous floor.

Dreadnought - 1F

• Go south, up the stairs, and south at the split.
  
• Then follow the path to the stairs and head down to the next floor.

Dreadnought - 3F

• Go south, then west, then north to find a door. Go through it and take the stairs down.

Dreadnought - 4F

• From the entrance, head south, all the way east, and all the way north for four chests.

• If you missed any chest, go get it before destroying the Dreadnought or you might miss them forever, nulling the 'Legendary Treasure Hunter' achievement.

• Go north to the split and head west to another split.
  
• Head southwest and follow the path to a chest containing Monsters! (Green Soul x5) → Mage's Staff.

• Now try to cross the bridge and you'll fall down to B4.

• Once ready, enter the Rebel Hideout.

• Enter the southeastern room (below King's chambers) and talk to Hilda.

• I again auto-attacked to win.
  
• After the battle, watch the scene.
  
• Leila will temporarily leave your party and Gordon will take her place.
  
• Leave the hideout and Altair.

Overworld

• Our next stop is Palamecia.
  
• Board the ship and make your way to this location:

• Land there.
  
• Go south through the woods and then east to reach the entrance of the desert.

• Enter the desert area and go northeast to find a coliseum just below a huge structure.

• Head inside the coliseum.

Coliseum - 1F

• Heal up and quick-save.
  
• A boss battle will occur as soon as you approach the Emperor.
  
• Once ready, head all the way north to trigger a scene.

• Easier boss battle than the previous one.
  
• This boss consists solely in physical attacks, so casting Protect is a good idea. Anyway, I auto-attacked until winning.
  
• After the battle, you'll be thrown into a cell.

Coliseum - B2

• When you regain control, head south and examine the door to trigger another scene.
  
• You're now free!
  
• There's no random encounters for this floor.
  
• From your cell, head all the way east and then north to find a chest.

• Open it for Monsters! (Stalagmite x2, Dual Deads x3, Dual Heads x3) → Antidote [80/234]
  
• Now backtrack to your cell and go a little north to find a split between two buildings.
  
• Ignore these and go east to find yet another building from where you can see the chest on the right side.

• Head inside to find three chests: Ether, Elixir, and Cottage. [83/234]

• We're done with the chests for this dungeon.
  
• Leave the room.
  
• Go back to the previous two buildings and head north, then east to find a lone building.
  
• Head inside.
  
• Take the stairs up.

Coliseum - B1

• Random encounters resume here.
  
• Head north, then east, then south, then go through the little passage and follow it until reaching the cells.
  
• Now unequip Gordon as he's permanently leaving your party and you sure don't want to lose that juicy gear.
  
• At the cells area, go east and interact with the rightmost door to trigger a scene.
  
• After the scene, go west, south, and east out the little passage.
  
• Head west and take the stairs up.

Coliseum - 1F

• Follow the linear path and exit the coliseum.

• Make your way back to Altair.

• Talk to the NPC near the entrance to know your next destination.
  
• Rest at the Inn if you desire and then exit to the overworld.

• Go north across the bridge and continue towards Gatrea.
  
• You will see a camp just west.

• Enter the camp to add it to your visited locations for the Adventurous Wayfarer achievement.
  
• Once ready, go north from the camp (paddle through the river) and enter Castle Fynn.

There's some new enemies - such as Brain and Rhyos - here, but they're so rare that isn't worth the effort of farming until they show up. I'll mention a better spawn location later.
From the entrance, head north and talk to Leila.

Head east and through the small path to find two chests with 2000 Gil and 1000 Gil respectively. [85/234]


Backtrack to the main chamber.
Head west and then north through the small corridor to find another chest at the end.

This boss hits really hard, but it's also really easy if you focus on healing with your white mage while auto-attacking with the other party members.

• Then west until some more woods, and southeast hugging the mountains to find a town.
  
• This is Mysidia. Go inside.

• After defeating the enemies, open the chest the boss was guarding to obtain the Key Item: Black Mask. [130/234]

• That should be the last chest for this dungeon.
  
• Now go north and stand on the warp pad to teleport yourself back the overworld.

• Make your way back to Mysidia.
  
• Feel free to visit the Inn, purchase any gear/spells, or simply don't enter the town at all.

• From Mysidia, head north and then east all the way until reaching the end of the mountains.
  
• Now head south and then immediately west to reach an open area.
  
• Go south from here to find the entrance of the next dungeon.

• Be extra careful when fighting cockatrices as they can stone your party members with just physical attacks. Who said this game isn't fair?

• Go back up the stairs and head east until reaching a split, then go south for a 4-way intersection.

• Make your way back to Altair: north up to the mountains, east until the end of the mountains, north a bit, then east to find your ship. Use the map for the rest of the path.
  
• Once at Altair, feel free to rest at the Inn or refill your supplies, then once ready, leave the town.

• It's a good moment to unequip Leila as she's leaving the party permanently in a few moments.
  
• From Altair, head west through the small pathway between continents until hitting a mountain range, head a bit south and then north through another pathway (north from the screenshot).

• Your ship will be sucked by a Whirlpool.

Leviathan - 1F

Warning: All chests here are missable. If you finish this location without collecting all chests, you won't be able to get the achievement for collecting all chests in the game.
None of the bestiary entries here are missable.

• Stomach acid (orange liquid) deals 1HP to all party members for each tick.
  
• Head west through the acid and follow the linear path until spotting a chest.
  
• Open it for Twist Headband. [150/234]

• Continue through the linear pathway and pass through the acid until reaching another chest.
  
• This time it contains Power Sash. [151/234]

• After the chest, continue west and go through the door.

Leviathan - 2F

• No random encounters on this floor.
  
• Head north through the acid pool and then west.

• Head north and then west past the Saliva (it damages you in the same way as the stomach acid), then north again to find a chest.

• Head south past the saliva and to the bottom of the room to find the final chest for this Dungeon. Open it for Monsters! (Red Soul x5) → Diamond Shield [154/234]

• From the chest head northwest and stop just in front of the worm.
  
• Remember, all chests here are missable, so confirm with Q → TAB that you have 5/5 for this location.
  
• Once ready, heal up, quick-save and then interact with the worm to start a boss fight.

• The Roundworm only relies on physical attacks and it's probably one of the most powerful bosses in the game with 120 points of ATK.
  
• Casting shield on the first turn and keeping the party healed at all times is probably the best tactic.
  
• Just have a dedicated healer while the other three party members attack and you're be good to go.
  
• Once the battle is over, board the ship on the west side.

Overworld

• Before completing this section, I suggest getting the Killer Fish, Helldiver, Buccaneer, Sea Snake, Antlion, Land Ray, and Phorusracos Bestiary entries. The appearance of the Cyclone in the next section makes some or all of these missable.

• Back at the overworld, head north and enter the tower.
  
• You might want to bring Ethers to this dungeon. I basically used all 99 I had while trying to climb up to the top.

Mysidian Tower - 1F

• White Dragon is a monster-in-a-box encounter.
  
• From the entrance, go all the way east, then northeast to find a chest with an Ether. [155/234]

• Go back to the entrance and then west.
  
• Now, head northwest until reaching another chest. Open it for Staff. [156/234]

• Head south, then east past the stairs, then northeast to find a chest with yet another Staff. [157/234]

• Now, standing in front of the chest, go south until hitting a wall and then all the way left to go through an hidden passage.

• Open the chest here for White Robe. [159/234]

• Exit the way you came and head up the stairs.

Mysidian Tower - 2F

• Head directly north and then east to find two chests.
  
• Open both for Flame Bow and Flame Lance. [161/234]

• Backtrack to the stairs and take the southwest path until hitting the western wall.
  
• From here, go north until a chest. Open it for Flame Shield [162/234]

• Now go all the way south past the split and then all the way east to find the stairs leading up.

• This floor features lava that deals 1HP on contact for each tick.

• Since this is a Fire-based boss, Ice-based spells will destroy it in no time.

• This boss is pretty much the same as the previous two but with a different element.
  
• This one absorbs Thunder and is weak to Scourge, so make sure to have one of your mages with Scourge learned and then spam that through the whole battle.
  
• This fight might be a bit longer than the previous due to the high HP of the boss.
  
• After winning, go north and take the stairs leading up.

Mysidian Tower - 8F

• From the stairs, head east and then all the way north.
  
• From here, go east to find a chest containing Monsters! (Gottos x2, Devil's Bloom) → Flare Tome. [176/234]

• Give this Tome to your Black Mage and start leveling it up right away.
  
• It's one of the best spells in the whole game.
  
• Now go back west and south a bit, then take the east path just one level from the check we just picked up.
  
• Go through the door and up the stairs.

Mysidian Tower - 9F

• Go north from the entrance to find a chest containing Hourglass. [177/234]

• Now go southwest and open the chest for a Cross. [178/234]

• From the chest, head northwest and up the stairs, then all the way east to find the last chest for this dungeon. Make sure to heal up and quick-save before opening it, though.
  
• Once ready, open the chest for Monsters (White Dragon) → Black Robe.

• This is an ice-based creature so spam all your fire-based arsenal to take it down quickly.
  
• With that, we are done with the chests for this dungeon.
  
• From the chest, head south, then east, then north through the second door.
  
• Go up the stairs.

Mysidian Tower - 10F

• Head all the way north and talk to Minwu.
  
• After the sad scene, go north through the door.
  
• Interact with the four blue orbs surrounding the yellow one to receive stat boosts.
  
  
• Now interact with the yellow orb to receive Ultima Tome!
  
• Give Ultima to your White Mage as it's based on Spirit not Intellect.
  
• Finally, stand on the warp pad to leave the dungeon.

Overworld

• Hop on the ship and make your way to Fynn.
  
• Most towns are now destroyed and are inaccessible at this point of the game.
  Also all enemies on the world map got replaced with stronger creatures.
  
• Once you reach Fynn, pay a visit to the town to stock up on supplies and rest at the inn, then head to the castle.

• Royal Guard shows at the boss fight.
  
• This is another one-visit only location, so make sure to collect all chests before leaving or you will permanently null the Legendary Treasure Hunter achievement.
  Also save often since our friend Cockatrice shows up here again.
  
• From the entrance, go all the way east and then north to find a set of stairs. Go up.

Cyclone - 2F

• Go northwest and open the chest for Ripper. [187/234]

• Now head all the way south and follow the linear path to the next set of stairs. Go up.

Cyclone - 3F

• Electrified floor deals 1HP per tick to your entire party.
  
• Follow the path south and then west to find another chest. Open it for Poison Axe. [188/234]

• Make your way back to 1F.

Cyclone - 1F

• Back on F1, go all the way west and up the stairs.

Cyclone - 2F

• Go up another set of stairs.

Cyclone - 3F

• Head all the way west and up the first stairs you see.

Cyclone - 4F

• From the stairs, head north, then west, then south to find a chest. Open it for Diamond Gloves. [189/234]

• Go back north, then east, then south for yet another chest. Open it for Diamond Helm. [190/234]

• Go back down the stairs to 3F.

Cyclone - 3F

• Head south, then east, then up the stairs.

Cyclone - 4F

• Go all the way east to find two set of stairs. Go up the left one.

Cyclone - 5F

• Follow the linear path west then head south at the split.
  
• Continue through the path to find a chest containing Defender. [191/234]

• Continue south and west to find another chest. Open it for Monsters! (General x2) → Diamond Armor [192/234]

• Make your way back to the stairs and down to 4F.

Cyclone - 4F

• Now take the right stairs up.

Cyclone - 5F

• Follow the linear path and take the stairs up.

Cyclone - 6F

• Go north, then all the way east to find a stairs and a chest.
  
• Heal up and quick-save before opening the chest.
  
• Once prepared, open the chest for Monsters! (Green Dragon) → Wind Flute [193/234]
  
  
• This dragon is Poison-resistant so use Lighting-based spells to take it down quickly.
  
• After opening this chest press Q → TAB and make sure that you have all 7/7.
  
• Once confirmed, head up the stairs to the next floor.

Cyclone - 7F

• Heal up and quick-save.
  
• Now, go up the red carpet and approach the Emperor.
  
• You'll get into three forced battles:
  
  
  • Royal Guard x2
    
  • Royal Guard x3
    
  • The Emperor, Wood Golem, Royal Guard x2

• Try to take the Wood Golem ASAP, then both Royal Guards, and finally the Emperor.
  
• This battle is surprisingly easy at this point of the game, so I won't give any tips besides using Shell and maybe Protect on your team during the first turn, then do whatever you feel. Good luck!
  
• After the battle, you'll be automatically returned to Castle Fynn.

Castle Fynn

• Once you regain control, talk to Hilda:

• Leave the castle.

Overworld

• Enter the town of Fynn.

Fynn

• Enter the southwestern house and talk to Cid to trigger a tragic scene.
  
• Leave the house and the town.

Overworld

• Make your way to the ship (probably docked near Altair) and head towards Poft.
  
• Once there, board the the airship!
  
• Next stop is Castle Palamecia, so head to the Colisseum and land on the structure just above it.

• Once you enter the Castle of Palamecia, you can't exit until completing the dungeon.
  Be aware.

Castle Palamecia - 7F

• This dungeon is filled with nasty creatures, including our old friend Cockatrice.
  
• Imperial Shadow and Coerul are monsters-in-a-box encounters.
  
• From the entrance, go north and through the door.
  
• Step on the tile at the very north of the room to fall down to 1F.

Castle Palamecia - 1F

• Head south and open the chest for Diamond Cuirass. [194/234]

• Now go back to the starting position and head all the way east, then south, then west and up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 2F

• Follow the only possible path southwest and open the chest for Hourglass. [195/234]

• Make your way back to 1F.

Castle Palamecia - 1F

• Go east, then south, then all the way west to find a chest containing a Garlic. [196/234]

• Head back east and up at the split.
  
• Take the stairs leading up.

Castle Palamecia - 2F

• From the stairs, go east and then all the way south for a chest with Ether. [197/234]

• Now head all the way north for yet another chest. Open it for Buckler. [198/234]

• From here, go all the way west, then south, then east and head up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 3F

• Head all the way north, then west at the split, then south to find a chest with Monsters! (Imperial Shadow) → Thunder Spear. [199/234]

• Go north, then all the way east, then south and head up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 4F

• Head north from the stairs, then west past the first split, then go south to find a chest.
  
• Open it for Saint's Spirit. [200/234]

• Go back north and then head west to find a chest containing Sleepgrass. [201/234]

• Return to the intersection and go north this time.
  
• Once at the top, follow the west path and go through the door.
  
• You'll find three chests inside. Open all for Mage's Staff, Healing Staff, and Wizard's Staff. [204/234]

• Exit the room.
  
• Make your way back to the split and then head east.
  
• Go up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 5F

• Head west and up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 6F

• Go north, then east, then south to find a chest.
  
• Quick-save before attempting to open the chest; this is an extremely hard battle against Coeurls with can one hit your party members.
  
• Once ready, open the chest for Monsters! (Coeurl x5, Lamia Queen) → Sun Blade [205/234]

• Continue south from the chest, then east and then north up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 7F

• Head west, then south, then enter the fist door you see to find three chests.
  
• Open all for 3x Elixirs. [208/234]

• Exit the room and make your way back to 6F: Go north, then east, then down the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 6F

• Go south, then west, then all the way north and take the stairs down.

Castle Palamecia - 5F

• From the stairs, go east and then immediately south all the way to the bottom.
  
• Now go west, then north, then up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 6F

• Follow the linear path all the way to the next set of stairs and go up.

Castle Palamecia - 7F

• Head directly north and up the stairs.

Castle Palamecia - 8F

• From the stairs, head all the way south to the bottom of the room.
  
• Once there, go all the way west. Don't go towards the throne room or you'll miss the last two chests.
  
• Now at the southwestern portion of the room, go all the way north to find the before mentioned chests.
  
• Open them for Hellfire and Wind Flute. [210/234]

• You should now have 17/17 for this location.
  
• Remove all equipment from Ricard as he will be permanently leaving the party soon.
  
• Now enter the throne room and speak to Leon sitting at the throne to trigger a cutscene.
  
• You'll be automatically returned to the Castle Fynn.
  
• After a scene, Leon joins the party!

Castle Fynn

• Leon is the final character that will join your party, so feel free to give him anything you want.
  
• Head back to the throne room and talk to Hilda:
  
  
  • Learn: Jade Passage
    
  • Exit
  
  
• Leave Castle Fynn.

Overworld

• An scene will play upon leaving Castle Fynn.
  
• Feel free to rest and refill supplies in Fynn.
  
• Once ready, hop on the airship and head to the Palamecia desert.

• Farm battles until getting the following bestiary entries:

• Now head to Deist.

Castle Deist - 1F

• Head north and up the stairs.

Castle Deist - 2F

• Go south and speak to the mother:

• You'll receive the amazing sword Excalibur!
  
• Feel free to equip the weapon to your best attacker and then leave the castle.

Overworld

• Your next and final destination is the Jade Passage, which is located straight south from Altair.

• Don't interact with the lake yet.
  
• Instead, farm battles around the area until getting the following bestiary entry:

• Once done, interact with the lake to get warped inside.

Jade Passage

• Head south from the warp pad to enter the passage itself.

Jade Passage - B1

• White Dragon shows up as a normal encounter here.
  
• Blue Dragon, King Behemoth, and Red Dragon are monsters-in-a-boss encounters.
  
• From the entrance, head south a little, then east, then south again to find a chest.
  
• Open it for Diamond Mace. [211/234]

• Backtrack to the entrance and then head all the way south.
  
• Open the chest here for Hellfire. [212/234]

• From the chest, head all the way east and go through the door.
  
• Go downstairs.

Jade Passage - B2

• Head all the way north from the entrance to find a chest.
  
• Open it for yet another Hellfire. [213/234]

• Now go east to find another chest. Open it for Antarctic Wind. [214/234]

• From the previous chest, go southwest for a chest containing Monsters! (Blue Dragon) → Cat Claws [215/234]

• Just like the previous dragons, this one is also elemental.
  
• To be more specific, it's thunder-resistant, so spam Scourge spells if you have them or simply do like me and auto-attack until winning.
  
• After the battle, go all the way east, then all the way north and through the door.
  
• Take the stairs down.

Jade Passage - B3

• Head down the stairs, then east past the waterfall (the bridge deals 1HP to all party members for each tick), then up another set of stairs.
  
• Now at the top, go east and then immediately south through yet another set of stairs.
  
• At the bottom, go up the left stairs to reach a chest. Don't open it yet.
  
• Heal up and quick-save first.

• Once prepared, open the chest to trigger a boss fight (King Behemoth) → Rune Axe. [216/234]
  
• This battle is pretty much the same thing as the one we had with the original Behemoth.
  
• The boss will stick to physical attacks, so cast Protect, and it's resistant to magical attacks, so auto-attack until winning. Also heal up with the White Mage if needed.
  
• And that's basically the whole strategy.
  
  
• After the battle, head back down the stairs and continue west across the bridge.
  
• Go down the stairs and then head east.
  
• The wizard behind the waterfall sells some powerful spells if you feel like taking a look. I suggest equipping everyone with Berserk and Haste.

• Once ready, go through the third door and down the stairs.

Jade Passage - B4

• Go immediately north from the entrance to find a chest containing a Betrayal Fang. [217/234]

• From the chest, go north and a bit east to find a door. Head inside.
  
• Open all three chests for Aegis Shield, Dragon Armor, and Holy Lance. [220/234]

• Exit the room.
  
• Now from the door, go east to the corner of the room to find yet another chest. Don't open it yet.
  
• Heal up and quick-save, then open the chest for Monsters! (Red Dragon) → Yoichi Bow [221/234]

• This is probably the hardest of the dragons due to its high stats: 180 ATK and 180 DEF.
  
• However, like all previous dragons, this one is also elemental.
  
• Resistant to Fire and weak to Ice-based spells. You already know what to do with that information.
  
• After winning, head to the southeastern corner of the room and go through the door.
  
• Head down the stairs.

Jade Passage - B5

• Go east and through the linear passage to reach a chest containing Hi-Potion. [222/234]

• Continue through the path to reach another chest. Open it for Protect Ring. [223/234]

• Head south following the pathway and open the chest on the eastern wall for an Elixir. [224/234]

• This was the last chest for this location.
  
• Now head all the way south and through the door. Take the stairs down.

Jade Passage - B6

• Follow the only possible path to a warp pad, then step on it to get teleported to the final dungeon.
