I've been running a few 1580 campaigns recently.
Switching between Hojo and Mori....
The wealth disparity between the Eastern provinces and Western provinces is extremely telling.
For example getting 4-5k Koku as Hojo isn't really that hard it's quite easy actually.
Mori though will only reach 4-5k Koku after some serious efforts, and will have to protect much more land. In reality I see mori following Oda style tactics using masses of armored and upgraded Yari-Ashigaru with a few Warrior monks thrown in for good measure.
To be fair I imagine such an army being a significant problem for Shimazu who lack a similiar level of durability.
Choosing to Go Portuguese or Dutch is mainly a question that should be considered when planning on how to deal with the Eastern provinces. As it is I feel Mori could only build proper armies after consolidating the entirety of the west.
I will definitely play them again at some point but I currently have enjoyed playing every other clan more than the Mori!
On the other hand, Mori is the clan with the most access to iron sand, so it's very possible to have several provinces training armored units at once.
