**Make sure you "active" the mod once installed by checking the box to the right of the title.**

So this MOD changes the class skills around a bit. I decided to make this mod because while playing as a gunner I realized that during dynamic combat it was simpler to have one turret weapon type and simply power up that specific skill, then activate it as combat commences. Using this strategy I am able to dispatch large fleets quickly. However, I noticed doing this I never used the other skills, then I thought, those poor Commanders and Engineers out there, have no specific weapon modifier skill! So I looked at all the skills and made some changes while trying to keep the overall feel of each class in line with its title.

Commander Skills:

Skill 1: Tactics - Augment your Fleet
Skill 2: Energize - Boost your Shields, disable enemy weapons
Skill 3: Defender - Augment your ships defenses
Skill 4: Beam Manipulation - Enhance Beam Weapons


Engineer Skills:

Skill 1: Hack - Hack Targets Mainframe
Skill 2: Rift - Create Anomalies that weaken or Damage your enemy
Skill 3: Retaliate - Damage to you can cause retaliatory attacks on the enemy
Skill 4: Plasma Booster - Enhance Plasma Weapons


Gunner Skills:

Skill 1: Piloting - Enhance ships accuracy and movement
Skill 2: Enforce - Augment Weapon systems for more energy or damage
Skill 3: Railgunner - Enhance Railgun Weapons
Skill 4: Heavy Hitter - Enhance Heavy Weapons

Why am I getting beams and rails for skill 3 and 4 instead of what is written? Did I do something wrong?

commander Skill #2 is my main skill as an engineer. you nerfed engineer. How about a mod that lets you choose the 4 skills you get at the start of the game?

I'm with [OTG] Akkirah below.. It makes more since to have the skills that way.. Can you make a secondary addon with those settings pls? Would it be hard to do? You can name it Skill Swap Mod alternate version or Skill Swap Mod rev1 maybe

hey it would be really awesome if you could make an engineer with the default skills but replace rift with piloting

Clermas, you need to update your mod and remove the newgame folder. It may have been needed in the past but not so anymore and is breaking my mods that actually start players with new ships.

I would swap weapons around PC's for gunners along with the skill Beams for Eng along with the skill and rails for tanks along with the skill

Logic
Engineer AKA science vessel high energy output = better stores for beams which are energy intensive good accuracy lower damage but the eng skills can use the accuracy with skills to bleed energy and shields from the target

Gunner Cannons usually have better range/damage making the gunner class and long range low hp glass cannon

Commander rails usually use almost no energy saving that energy for sub systems and have mid range lower shield damage than other weapons using the tankyer class skills to wear an apponent down or keep them busy while fighters engage


Maybe all of this dont translate into the game but as for feel this makes sense to me
