Never a good idea to do that. Why is it a bad idea? Well, a good strategy is to make strong bonds with an Empire so you can make trade routes and make more money. A good way to ally is do quests. You can give them money, too. Both are good ideas. Plus, you will most likely only have really dinky weapons by then.

Here's what you want (to fail):

-Too many textured items
-Too many solid colors
-DO NOT use your own creation, Maxis' stuff is your way to go
-Name it "Pancakes Mobile"
-Name it "Ship"
-Have ideas completely based off of Maxis' or someone else's ideas

Invest in "smart" things like to colonize a T0 planet because it looks cool, not for Spice production. If you happen to actually make SOME spice, good for you. More money to blow on things that you'll never use, like a "Happy Ray" or "Crop Circles." *Sarcastic* Because Crop Circles are perfect for not scaring the crap out of sentient species. Also, invest in buying Spice you can produce YOURSELF. Especially if the seller is selling for an insanely high price because it is a "commodity."

Because getting your Spice stolen for less income is perfectly okay. When the attack is over, go re-colonize it. Perfect. But wait, what if they capped it? Put a colony on a planet in the solar system next to it. It's fine. Wait, it just got capped. Oops. Shouldn't have done that. :/

Giving them money makes them "happier." If that doesn't work, Just leave them alone. The center of the universe is right there. Go to it. If they start shooting, use a Happy Ray. They won't see it coming.
