Skywrath is one of the best heroes to put in mid lane. His first ability can be used to harass the crap out of the enemy mid lane. Skywrath even craps on Sniper.

Use Rod of Atos to lock down the enemy, silence them, and nail them with your ult for a guarenteed kill. At level 6 you need to be out in the side lanes getting your team kills. You die easy, but kill faster. If you don't keep ahead by constantly ganking you will fall behind and become useless.
