To be a dad you must always take full responsibility of your children (not just for your sake but for others sanity, seriously please take care of your kids properly in public). try to keep your kids responsible and polite, but not force them to unless if it is necessary. learn to love your children for who they are, be kind, generous and loving to them to make a stronger bond to them, but you also need to be a role model, you cant just lazily sit on the couch all day drinking alcohol, you need to teach your kinds the importance of trying and working, at first have them do small chores like cleaning their room, then have them do bigger chores like doing the dishes or raking leaves, but don't make them always do chores, or otherwise they might not love you, let them have alone time and relax, so they feel free and not like slaves, most of the work should be done by you, the dad. you will also need to teach them basics of life, like brushing their teeth or making the bed, teach them what you know about life because children need to know the basics of what to do for a stable and happy life. knowing your the father I would suggest knowing and being with the kids would be the most important thing since I assume most of the time you will be at work, if you are planing to become a dad please try your hardest to keep the family together and most importantly happy, also make sure your wife is doing okay. its not just about the kids, its about the family, meaning you too of course.
