Battle of the Alps (1940)

Italy vs. France

Description:

The Italian 1st and 4th Armies must penetrate the French fortifications in the Alps along the Franco-Italian border. Sufficient success will secure Italy a seat at the negotiation tables.

Notes:

I always loved the addition of proper Italian units with the Blitzkrieg DLC and love the potential of Italy-centered scenarios that they provide, so I decided to try and create this scenario. Some of the French unit names for the Fortified Sector of the Maritime Alps (line near Nice) are made up, because I was only able to find battalion names for the Rhone and Dauphine Fortified Sectors. The Savoy Fortified Sector was left out due to the impossibly abysmal supply situation in the northern alps. It wouldn't be possible to add them in without gamey supply sources for both the Italians and French.

Until the North African parts of the map are more fully developed (i.e. Libya/Egypt) I don't really believe there is much more potential for Italy scenarios other than ahistorical ones, or a more Italy-centered Yugoslavia scenario. There are already plenty of great Greco-Italian War scenarios including a short campaign :)
