English Electric 2350 Class

The English Electric 2350 Class, Queensland's very own 'roided out tractor. Sporting the 12CSVT engine (of British Class 37 fame) you can now own your very own obnoxious Aussie Thrash Tractor. This has the standard QR 'Diesel Blue' livery used for 40 years and a repaintable version as well. Both have reversed versions and there is a static asset for use in railyards. (or to simulate yet another breakdown. I haven't figured out how to code the 'Oh God the Traction Motors are on fire' yet.)


Introduced in April 1973 the 2350 Class was built by English Electric (Later General Electric) originally for Central Queensland coal traffic. Twelve were ordered with an all up weight of 91 tons (The limit at the time) powered with the beautiful 12CSVT Mk. III engine with an output of 1752 kilowatts. Although originally designed for coal duties the class were also used for ballast and some general freight. Overall they were not a great success, they rode badly had poor weight distribution on the bogies, slipped on dry rail and had a high failure rate. They would be the last English Electric design purchased for Queensland Rail. By 1988 all had been retired, mostly being sold on to Tasmania. (Because apparently that's what we do with unloved locomotives and rollingstock. You sell them to Tasmania. Or New Zealand.)
