Introduction
This guide has been rushed together to provide a method to run Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY edition from Big Picture Mode that bypasses the launcher.

If you are running Big Picture Mode and are controller based, you may find the following appears when launching the game:



This responds to mouse interaction alone rather than a controller, which is somewhat frustrating if you have no immediate access to a mouse.
Guide
Disclaimer: I'm providing the following information "as is" from good intentions and take no responsability if you accidently break something.

Browse to the following directory:
[Path_To_Steam]\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\Binaries\



You should see the following 3 executables:
BmStartApp.exe BmLauncher.exe ShippingPC-BmGame.exe

Open an Administrative command prompt to this directory.

Run the following:
ren BmStartApp.exe aBmStartApp.exe ren BmLauncher.exe aBmLauncher.exe mklink BmStartApp.exe ShippingPC-BmGame.exe mklink BmLauncher.exe ShippingPC-BmGame.exe





And you're done!

Next time Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY is launched via Steam Big Picture Mode, it should go straight into the game:

Easiest way possible, even works on Steam Deck:

1. Browse to directory listed in the guide above "[Path_To_Steam]\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\Binaries\"

2. Duplicate "ShippingPC-BmGame.exe". (No need to name it anything special right now.)

3. Rename or delete "BmLauncher.exe". (I renamed it "BmLauncherBackup.exe")

4. Rename your second copy of "ShippingPC-BmGame.exe" to "BmLauncher.exe"

Now Steam launches straight into the game.



BONUS: Tired of the long intro videos you can't skip with a controller?

1. Navigate to "[Path_To_Steam]\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\BmGame\Movies"

2. Delete the following files:

baa_logo_run_v5_h264.bik
Legal.bik
Legalus.bik
nvidia.bik
utlogo.bik

You now launch STRAIGHT into the game. No intro movies, no launcher, as God intended.

There is a better way to achieve this. Use the "Add a non-steam game" option and browse to the games .exe file. Name it what ever you want. You can then start it from the Big Picture mode.

you can just rename the launcher, and change the batman executable to the launcher's name. Easier, less messy.

@CaZeri4Pr: Years late but for the sake of posterity: This will work for any game that has a separate executable for the launcher and the main game, yes. (which may be all of them, I haven't gone and looked.) This is basically just redirecting Steam to a different executable - you can't change the Steam looks for, but you can symlink the one is IT looking for to point at something else.

If you're using a third-party library program that lets you specify the file to launch manually, you could just tell it to launch ShippingPC-BmGame.exe instead.
