TL:DR
  • Shoot mortars at infantry until they run away, then mortar their armories and barracks to keep them from coming back.
  • Shoot rockets at vehicles until they run away, then mortar their repair pads and vehicle factories to keep them from coming back.
  • Always have 8 mines placed at any given time.
  • Always try to shoot from behind cover, rockets can even be guided around corners.
  • Ammo upgrade is your friend, always take it unless you're driving a tank.
Learn to Love the Mortar!
  • The mortar is an anti-everything weapon, as long as you can hit your target!
  • It doesn't deal damage to friendlies so don't worry about dropping some fire support right on their heads.
  • It does, however, deal a lot of damage to yourself. Avoid shooting straight down unless as a last resort, and avoid hitting the terrain next to you as well.
  • It can only be fired from crouching or prone, but you don't need to crouch very long to be able to fire. Holding down the fire button and tapping crouch is enough to fire one off.
  • Following on to this, staying in motion will keep the enemy from being able to effectively fire back, especially with mortars of their own, so it's a good idea to keep moving and only crouch for a moment to fire especially when out in the open.
  • Use the arc to your advantage, if you can put even a little bit of cover between yourself and the enemy you'll stay alive longer, and even if you can't directly see the enemy there are still things you can do to stay on target.
  • Always try to adjust your aim, seeing where your shells land and listening to the hitmarker sound.
  • Don't forget to lead moving targets.
  • Getting out of cover for a moment to see where your shell landed, then getting back in cover without moving your aim is very effective.
  • Prioritize mortaring buildings, since you're the best class at taking them down. Barracks and vehicle factories are a high priority to keep the enemy from spawning and getting vehicles.
  • Always keep the pressure up when up against large numbers of enemy infantry by firing as fast as possible, bringing ammo upgrade and asking for ammo incessantly will help with this. (F-S-A with default keybinds)
  • Aiming at the door of the barracks will deal damage to the building while also keeping infantry from shooting out of it!
Rockets are also pretty good
  • The rocket launcher is only effective against vehicles, turrets, infantry and small engineer-placed radars and cameras. For the most part don't bother with shooting at larger buildings.
  • Unlike the mortar, rockets do not deal any splash damage unless it's against yourself, so you need to get a direct hit.
  • Similarly to the mortar, make sure you aren't hitting cover or terrain right next to yourself as you might take a lot of damage.
  • Rockets can be guided by holding down the fire button rather than just tapping it. Even when manually guiding you usually need to lead fast moving targets by a little bit to reliably hit them.
  • They only deal damage to the side of the vehicle which they hit, so aiming for weak areas that have already been hit or the rear where armor is often lacking can help kill vehicles more quickly.
  • Rockets can be fired at an extremely long range, so using them to take out turrets even from outside of the range of your mortar works very well. Three direct hits with either the mortar or rocket will kill a turret. This can also help save your mortar rounds for other targets.
  • Similarly, if you see the muzzle flash of a far away enemy, perhaps a sniper or rifleman, firing a rocket at them can be a way to either get an easy kill or at least force them to move.
  • Even at close range the rocket launcher can often kill enemy infantry with a direct hit if you're in a pinch, unless they have the health upgrade skill and are near full health.
A well-placed mine is a free kill
  • Mines are effective against both infantry and vehicles, depending on how they are placed!
  • Just like the mortar and rocket launcher, they deal a bunch of damage to yourself as well so avoid being near your own mines as they go off. Luckily they can't deal damage to friendlies and they can't set them off by walking or driving over them either.
  • You can see the enemy's mines, let your squadmates know or bring the defusal skill to deal with them.
  • Single mines are enough to kill infantry unless they have the health upgrade skill and are near full health or have defusal, place them in chokepoints, around corners, in doorways and at the top and bottom of ladders where the enemy is likely to step on them.
  • Placing mines under tufts of grass or on terrain which is the same color as the mine can make them much harder to spot.
  • Against vehicles, chokepoints are good whether they are from the terrain or placed walls. Even in the open if you can picture the ideal "racing line" that a tank would take through there, placing mines along that can be effective.
  • When multiple mines are close together, setting one off will cause the rest to explode as well, even if they were placed by another grenadier.
  • A single mine will also kill a jeep, and stacks of 4-8 mines can often kill tanks outright, but the vehicle will only set them off if they do not have the mine defusal skill.
  • When you already have 8 mines placed, dropping a 9th will cause the first mine placed to explode, which can cause other mines nearby to go off.
  • Placing 8 mines in the same spot then setting them all off with a 9th mine is called 9 mining, and is a very effective way to take out vehicles in chokepoints or to set off on a flag which is being captured by the enemy.
  • Staying stationary while dropping mines clips them into each other, so a stack of 8 mines can look just like a single mine.
The pistol is not a primary weapon
  • The main reason to get out your pistol is to frantically dump the magazine point-blank at the enemy's head after your rocket or mortar has missed!
  • Meleeing with the pistol can be very effective, just right-click. This isn't very reliable though so it's more of a thing to do once you've already wasted the whole magazine.
  • One odd use for the pistol is that it can take out those little engineer-placed cameras and radars by shooting them or even using melee to conserve ammo.
  • Once you're out of mortar rounds and rockets, the pistol can at least be enough to retreat and get more ammo.
Skills
  • Ammo upgrade is the best skill to have as grenadier when not in a tank, it doubles the number of mortar rounds, rockets and mines you carry while quadrupling your pistol ammo as well.
  • Defusal means you won't set off enemy mines by stepping or driving over them, and allows you to hold the "E" key on them to be defused. This is really important when driving a vehicle, since you often can't see mines in time to avoid them as you would when playing as infantry.
  • Armor Detection allows you to see the enemy's armor when mousing over them, just like with allies. This is very good if you expect to face off against a large number of vehicles, as targeting the weak sides with mortars, rockets and tank weapons will take them out much faster.
  • Armor Increase makes your tank harder to destroy.
  • Artillery Detection shows where your rounds are hitting on the minimap, this may or may not work with your mortar and rocket launcher and is intended more for tanks. Very good for using an artillery tank, but can be helpful with any tank since tank cannons have a much longer range than the mortar, such as hitting refinery points across the map without even spotting the refinery itself.
