This guide is a walkthrough for Level 5: Robots, Level 6: Time Portal, Level 7: Time Portal Gun, and Level 8: Time Portal Physics of P3TT. There are now pictures for about half of level 5, and later I'll add pictures for the rest of level 5 and add levels 6-8. Leave a comment if you find anything confusing or want a clarification!

When you enter this room, you will see a portal wall, and, off to the right, a tall thin robot. I will call these Bots, just for conciseness. Shoot one portal, we'll call it portal A, onto the portal wall.

Remember which portal this is (blue or orange), it will become important later. Now, walk over to the Bot, but stay either behind it or right next to it. It will kill you, and it's not a pleasant experience. Now look into the room past this one, you should see a cube in the next room. Use the middle mouse button to grab that from a distance.


Once you have it, hold it up to basically eye level. Then, walk into the next room, keeping the box between you and the Bot at all times. Again, terrible death.

Once you're in the next room, move to the side that has a portal wall, and therefore out of the line of sight of the Bot. You can drop your cube off in this room for now. Now, remember which portal you placed before, portal A? Shoot the other color at this wall. We'll call this one portal B.

You now have a way to sneak around the Bot without being lasered. Walk through portal B, walk behind the Bot, and use the middle mouse button to press the button on its back. Danger averted, right? Well, let's just say there's a reason this level is called Robots, plural. Now that this laser is off, walk back through portal A and into the room that has the cube in it. Place the cube on the button in the middle of the room and walk through the door that it opens. Be careful though, don't walk too far! There's a Bot pointed directly across the entry into the next room.

This is the part that I struggled with the most. How would I be able to get into the next room without immediate death? The only portal surface that you can see currently is right where the Bot is pointed. Remember portal B from the last section? Re-shoot that same portal so that the laser is pointed into the very first room, and is of no harm to you.




Then, go into the last room, the one with the cube, and pick it up. Move so that you are right next to that portal wall, but not directly in front of it. Shoot portal A onto this wall. In other words, move the portal from the very first room into this room.



You should be out of the way of the laser. Now pick up your cube, hold it as a shield, and move through the portal and into the room with the Bot.

Now that you've made it into the next room, move toward the Bot, still with the cube shield up, and get as close as you can to the Bot. Then, move around the Bot to the right. I made the mistake of going left, and I promptly fell into a small hole that it was very difficult to get myself out of without getting recognized as a person and not a floating cube. Continue to move around the Bot until you are behind it. You should be safe now, and you can turn this Bot off with the button on its back. Now you can get a sense of your surroundings. There should be a tall platform with another Bot on it. Use portals to get up to that platform. Sneak up behind the Bot and turn it off too. You should also notice a button with sloped surfaces on two sides of it. There are also two receptacles for lasers, one on the ceiling above the platform, and one directly in front of the Bot on the platform. The next section will tell you exactly how to open the door, so if you want to try to figure it out yourself I'd leave here.

Looking at the exit, you should notice a portal surface right next to the door. This will be important later. Now, you must set up to open the door. You're going to need to activate both laser receptacles as well as the cube button in the floor. First, make sure your cube is placed near if not on the button. Make sure you can find it later. Next, set up your portals. You're going to need one portal on the platform floor, looking up at the laser receptacle on the ceiling. The other one should be on the portal wall right next to the exit door. We'll call the floor one portal F, and the one near the exit portal E. Place portal F first, then drop down to the side where the button is. Turn on the Bot on the floor, then use the cube as a shield and move to where portal E is. Bring the cube with you as you go through portal E. Drop the cube off the side, preferably onto the button, but at least get it near. That's what the sloped surfaces are for. Once that cube is on the button, sneak up and quickly turn on the Bot on the platform. Make sure to move out of the way as quickly as possible, because the Bot on the floor might see you. Then, drop down into portal F. You should now be right next to the exit. Move yourself so that you can see the portal surface in front of the Bot on the floor, but don't expose yourself to the Bot on the platform. Move portal E to where the floor Bot is pointed. The door should now be open, and your journey continues!

This level, while it did take me a day or so to figure out the puzzle, was fairly easy for me compared to the last one. I'm having a bit of a time wrapping my head around the time portals, but I'm sure I'll figure it out once I actually have control of it. In this level, there is one obvious green button, which activates a green portal when stepped on. The green portal appears for a time, then disappears. Looking around a bit, you'll see 2 other platforms, a laser receptacle above the first green portal, and a hole in the ceiling with a laser. I played around with these for a while but couldn't figure out how to get the laser into the receptacle. It finally clicked that if I could figure out how to get the laser into the first green portal at the correct angle, I could then activate the other green portal and have the laser come out of it and into the receptacle. I'll give you that much here, scroll to the next section for the exact solution!

To solve this level, you must first activate the lower of the two green portals. Once you've done that, place one regular portal above you to catch the laser, and the other portal on the wall under the exit door platform. This should cause the laser to go into about the center of the green portal. If that isn't true, you might want to move your second portal until that is true. Leave those there until the green portal disappears. Then use regular portals to get up to the platform with the other green button. Activate the second green button, then use blue and orange portals to get to the platform near the exit door. Once the laser comes through the newer green portal, the door should open. Congrats!

I will try my best to go back and edit this later, but this is how I solved level 7, currently without pictures.

When you enter the room, there is a button to your right (in the direction of the cube dropper) and one to your left. I will refer to these as Right Button and Left Button, respectively. The timing on this is tricky, but step onto Right Button as the rotating green point reaches the portal wall where the cube is falling. (This took me a good couple of tries!) Once that's done, wait for the green point to reach the portal walls to your left (that are above ground, not lava) and step on the Left Button. This will cause the cube to time travel to now, and fall onto the button outside the current room. The gate will now open.
Walk out of the room and look behind you. There's some portal wall above the room you were just in. Use normal portals (it doesn't matter which color is which) to get yourself up there.
Up there, there should be 2 buttons once again. We'll call those Left Button 2 and Right Button 2, though it truly doesn't matter which is which. We'll get back to those later. For now, go back down into the room you started in (remember your best friends Left Button and Right Button!). Step on Right Button when the green point is on a wall above the ground to your left. Go over to the green portal that appears there and jump into it. It's a bit disorienting, but you're right back where you were. This essentially programs the green portal to spit you out when the second green portal is created. (I may add a section later explaining how the green portals work. If you'd like that, a comment would be really cool!)
Now go back to Left Button and step on it when the green point is on the section of wall in the back left corner. Wait for a bit, and you should appear over there. Now you can easily jump over that gap and retrieve the green portal gun for yourself!
Jump back over the gap and use normal blue and orange portals to go back to where your cube is (on the button in the slanted floor). Now take that cube and portal yourself up above original room (back to Left Button 2 and Right Button 2!). Place your cube on one of the buttons up there (choose whichever one your heart desires) and stand on the other button yourself. This should open a portal surface across the room. Now, on the portal wall behind you, place a green portal and throw yourself into it (you can step off the button). Step back on the button and place another green portal on the surface that is opened. You should now appear through that portal onto the scary platform over the lava. This may seem like the end, but it is not.
When you follow the platform, you can see a button that opens a portal surface. You can go back on the scary platform and use the middle button to retrieve your cube. Place the cube on the button and use the portal wall behind you and normal orange and blue portals to go to the other side of that fence. Once through, place a portal on the wall in front of you and retrieve your cube. Place the cube on the new button, portal normally up to the exit, and walk through! Congrats, you have completed level 7!

This is done from memory, so please let me know if something doesn't work or I'm unclear!

Before you enter the main room, you may notice that to the left of it, there is a secret ledge. I will call this Secret Ledge. Secret Ledge will be our friend later on.
Entering the main room, you will see a ton of lava below you (yikes!), cubes being repeatedly dropped into the lava, and two buttons on the platform you're standing on. In a burst of inspiration, I will call those Left Button and Right Button (from the way you see them when first walking in). The hints in the text are very helpful. First, stand on Left Button and shoot a green portal onto the slanted portal wall across the room from you. A cube should then fall into it and disappear. Now walk on over to Right Button and stand on it. Shoot your green portal in the same place as before. The cube should come barreling out of this portal and land in the hallway near Secret Ledge. Pick up the cube and place it under Secret Ledge so you can climb onto it and into the short hallway. The end of the hallway is a portal surface! Go ahead and place a green portal there and walk into it. Now leave Secret Ledge and move your cube onto Left Button back in the main room. Place your green portal on the slanted portal surface again, and you should come out of it and land on a slightly precarious ledge. Now look up into where the cubes were coming from originally. Place either a blue or orange portal there, and one on the slanted surface. This should put you in a room with a hole in the middle of the floor, leading down to the slanted surface. Place a portal (blue/orange) above that hole. Put the other portal on the wall where you can get to it, and finally place your green portal on the slanted surface below you. You could do this while falling, but I personally played it safe. Now walk through your normal portal. You should fall onto the green portal and it will disappear. Now look around the room. To your right and up the wall, there should be a small alcove with a white wall. Portal up there with normal portals (one up there, one on slanted surface). This bit is tricky, but jump from up there to the platform you started out on (this killed me once, so be careful and hold down that forward button!). Move your cube from Left Button to Right Button. Now place your green portal on the slanted surface. You should now be flying to the exit! There is a button where you arrive. Go to the edge of the hall you're in, looking back at the room you just came from, and use your middle mouse button to retrieve your cube from Right Button. Place the cube on the button, and you've now completed level 8!!
