i just Faced this issue before and after long search about any fix for this issue Finally i Found a Guide to fix it
just follow this steps
-1 Press " Window Key + R "
-2 write " Appdata " in the box
-3 search about Battle island Folder
-4 if u found the folder just delete all filles and the folder
-5 go back to your steam
-6 Reinstall your game
-7 and you can Verify Game Cache
-8 Enjoy your game and Good luck
-9 Pls Rate the Guide and leave a like or reward
-10 leave a comment in my steam profile

This helped for me to ... reinstalling XNA Framework 4.0

Having tried all above with no success - I found a post online that suggested reloading XNA Framework 4.0 - I did - it works fine now. Battle Islands loads and plays now

Game still does not load - start to load flashes the new window then nothing - Click PLAY button goes blue - STOP - screen flashes - button goes - green - PLAY. Have done all the above and no change. Any other ideas why it has stopped working?
