Antibodies (v1.93) [B41 + B42]

Beskrivelse
The Antibodies mod enhances the vanilla zombification mechanic by introducing an antibodies curve inspired by real-life immune system responses. If the antibodies successfully counteract the infection, the character will experience a gradual recovery over time.

How it Works

As you get infected, the Knox Virus in your body spreads. Alongside, your body slowly mounts an immunological response.

The antibodies output rate is tied to infection progression (peaks at 50% infection), your condition, wounds, infections and hygiene.

Your job is to sustain all positive effects, and reduce all negative effects (see diagnose panel) - so that antibodies can overtake the infection and eradicate the virus.

Playing as character with medical background actually makes sense now, since it allows you to diagnose yourself and others, and also provide significant bonuses while treating wounds.

By default, sandbox settings are rather forgiving. The easiest way to tweak that is by changing "Base Antibodies Growth" property in General section.

FAQ:

Will this mod work if I install it after my character got infected?
Yes, unless you are past certain point. Infection length is randomized, but it takes between 2-3 days to resolve (either way).

I've been nursing my character back to health for several days now, and he hasn't died, but it still says he's bitten. Should it be taking this long?

Most likely you are confusing a wound and the infection. Wound will stay with you for a while, even if you survive the virus - but it will eventually heal.

Does this mod work in multiplayer mode?
Yes, including local co-op.

Susceptible Mod compatibility?
Yes. Investigated by @The Animeville Horror. Thanks again.

Does antibiotics pill found in the game help at all?
In real life antibiotics don't do anything against viruses. It will help by healing bacterial infections, however it won't do anything against Knox Virus.

How can I make sure this mod works?
Create a character with medical background (with +2 First Aid) - this will add diagnose button in your health panel.
This is also the best way to tailor sandbox settings to your needs.

How can I make this mod harder or adjust the difficulty?
The key setting is Base Antibodies Growth, which controls how quickly your character develops immunity. Here's what different values mean (assuming no other effects):
  • 180 (default) - You overcome the infection at 40% progression.
  • 140 - You overcome it at 66% progression.
  • 138 - You overcome it at 70% progression.
  • 135 - You die. The infection progresses faster than your body can fight it.

Every in-game effect modifies this baseline. You can adjust difficulty by:
  • Lowering Base Antibodies Growth to shrink your margin for error.
  • Adding harsher penalties (e.g., from injuries, exhaustion, etc.).
  • Combining both for a tougher experience.

Personal note:
I think the vanilla Knox Infection kind of sidesteps some (even core) mechanics in the game. For example:
  • First Aid feels almost irrelevant without human enemies like bandits or raiders.
  • Tailoring also doesn't offer enough incentive to grind it to meaningful levels.
  • Hygiene/Washing completely meaningless, even though you can plumb your washing machine, after water gets shut off.

Personally, I find managing the infection more engaging than just hiding in a base for a few days - especially in multiplayer.
Don't worry, you will get cocky at some point, and you will get stranded without necessary supplies to survive the infection. It's just a matter of time.
But hey, don't let me tell you how to play your game.

Known conflicts:

zRe Vaccine ReMod by kERHUS - this mod packs older version of Antibodies, and will break the current version. If you want new features please ask author of that mod to update theirs. You shouldn't try to run both.

The same goes for any other mod that includes previous version of Antibodies.

Update Schedule:

I have constrained myself to update only Tue-Thu. All potential problems with the update should be resolved in this time window.

I do however reserve a right to fix critical issues ASAP (for example when game update breaks the mod).

Currently chugging burbon in my underwear(in game this time) while fighting the infection watching Shrek 2 in its entirety on a tiny ass TV in the corner of the fire station.

Again... in game. This mod makes it possible. Truly a work of art.

Hi, I find this mod very interesting, thank you very much for developing it. I had a problem, but I've already solved it. I'm mentioning it here in case anyone else has the same issue on a dedicated server: the ModID description is incorrect, or at least it was for me. It works for me like this:

Regards and thanks for the mod.

sorry for basically spamming but earlier the same thing happened and i actually had level 2 medical, the virus was still in the incubation phase when i died when i had that but i assumed it was because i had the "prone to illness" trait
Godzillajawz 8. nov. kl. 21:36
nope, i am just dying from a fever super quickly. it could be one of my other mods but i doubt it
Godzillajawz 8. nov. kl. 21:34
hold on let me see if the infection time is set really low for some reason
Godzillajawz 8. nov. kl. 21:33
im dying within probably about an ingame hour or two after getting bit without having a chance to get somewhere safe and clean my wounds and deal with my moodles, i assume the mod is not supposed to kill me that fast even if i dont properly take care of myself

I added some new mods, which caused this mod to stop working. I'm guessing it's due to a trait mod

i got bit 2 days now and the infection and antibodies says its still 0, is it because i have everyone's infected and immortality to never?
