You know, with just a tiny bit of adjustment by removing the vertical crossmarks, I think you could release a pretty decent looking concrete slab sidewalk. From the picture you included, I actually think the dark borders look good for it. Perhaps the sides that complete the 1 unit width (I am assuming) could be either grass or pavement at equivalent height to merge well with other surroundings, but yeah, would be neat
