How to avoid game breaking/save corrupting bug in Chapter 14 - "Stairway to Heaven"

Since Chapter 14 may be the longest mission in the entire game, it's definitely frustrating when you get game breaking bug right at the end. I tried to make this guide as spoiler-free as possible.

What bug is it?
At the very end of the chapter, you get endless save screen and you're never able to successfully save your progress. Every time you force restart/shut down of the game, you play from previous checkpoint. Thus you can never finish Chapter 14.
What (not) to do
Through this entire chapter you shouldn't rob any stores. You could get away with it, if you do so right at the beginning, but I recommend not to.
About half way through the mission, after killing Derek and taking cash from his office, you still need to save up some money to be able to pay off your debt. At this stage, you MUST NOT rob ANY stores. Your only way to get money is to deliver vehicles to Mike Bruski. When you've earned your half, you're told to meet Joe. From now on, I also recommend to avoid any expenses, until you finally meet Bruno Levine to pay off the debt.

Unfortunately, Definitive Edition brings back old bugs rather than fixing them. To be honest, in my only playthrough of DE I experienced more bugs than in about 15-20 playthroughs of Classic version. And this particular bug I've experienced for the first time ever in DE as well. At least it was the only one that was game breaking.
Hopefully you read this guide before actually playing Chapter 14 and learning the hard way.

I'm happy you were able to finish the mission. As I said, generally DE is way buggier than original. If you wanna play the game for the first time and just for the sake of the story, I'd always recommend the original. Small changes in graphics aren't worth the worse QoS.

I tried a few more time and same thing would happen at the end of the mission so I stop playing for a couple of days and I loaded it up and it worked this time

Sorry, I did not experience this bug myself, so I could only speculate.

died twice while i had the money to police and had to deliver to mike both the times just for my game to corrupt anyway, uninstalled the game out of rage, now im kinda regretting it because i wanted to try the dlcs

I actually had my file corrupted in chapter 11 of the classic. Is there no way to recover it, or will I just have to play through the game again? It let's be start a new game, but doesn't allow me to even chapter select to chapter 11.

I actually haven't experienced this in Chapter 7, so I can't tell. I'd start with verifying game files and restarting the chapter, you can never go wrong with that.

Yeah, exactly like me. Played the game I'd say close to 20 times in my life, on Steam and elsewhere, never happened to me. Played DE for the first time and it happened. The DE is in general buggier than original.
