Step 1. Boot up Paint The Town Red. This is achievable by heading to the "LIBRARY" tab in Steam, clicking on Paint The Town Red, and hitting the big green button that says "PLAY"

Step 2. Hit the singleplayer button in the main menu. This is achievable by doing step 1 and waiting for the loading screen to finish. Then you move your cursor over the first button, and click it with your left mouse button. Then you hit the top-most button of that mini-menu that appeared when you hit the "SINGLEPLAYER" button. For brownie points, you can hit any of the other 3 buttons that come out of the menu and somewhere around that menu that pops up will be some sort of play button. Hit it and you can skip step 3!

Step 3. Head into a game. To do this, get past step 1 and 2 and you can either hit play, the bottom-most button, or move your cursor to the top-most button. When clicking the button, which will say "BIKER BAR" it , and the background, will switch to disco. The background will give the player a view on what to expect in each level; the characters, the map, the weapons, etc. By clicking on either the button itself or the arrow pointing right to the right of the button, you will move through the stage select. The order of the stage select is; Biker Bar, Disco, Prison, Pirate Cove (day), Pirate Cove (night), Saloon, and Sandbox. If you hit the left-pointing arrow to the left of that top-most button, you will go reverse in the cycle. Choose the map to your liking and hit the bottom-most button.

Step 4. Wait for the level to load. To do this, you must first repeat steps 1-3, and you will find a screen with the logo for Paint The Town Red and in the bottom-left corner, text that says loading and the level that you chose in either step 2 or 3. For this step, just wait for step 5, you don't have to do anything. The loading screen is there to conceal the game loading in sprites, textures, maps, etc.

Step 5: Press "W". To do this. press the key that has the letter W on it on your keyboard.
