Perfect Dark Weapons Pack

v0.91 - Balancing tweaks to come. Some more features may be added.

This mod aims to port as many weapons from Perfect Dark (N64) to Xenonauts, within my ability and the game engine's capability. Obviously doesn't line up with the timeline
in Xenonauts.

Players start with a handful of weapons unlocked, and earn the rest through branching researches. This pack currently adds 30 weapons and 12 researches.

Included: Falcon 2 + variants, Magsec 4, Mauler, Phoenix, DY357 and LX, CMP-150, Cyclone (yes with magazine discharge), Callisto NTG, RC-P120, Laptop Gun, Dragon, K7 Avenger, AR34, SuperDragon, Shotgun, Reaper, Sniper Rifle, Farsight XR20, Devastator, Rocket Launcher, Slayer, Combat Knife (thrown), Crossbow, Tranquilizer, Wrist Laser and Frag Grenade.


Weapons and features not included in the pack:

-Combat knife as a melee (working on it, causes crashes currently)

-RC-P120 secondary function (Cloak)

-Laptop Gun secondary function (Deploy Sentry)(Impossible?)

-Superdragon secondary function (Grenade Launcher)(Just fires from two barrels for now)

-Remote Mines (Impossible functionality?)

-Proximity Mines (Also impossible?)

-Timed Mines (Just another grenade)

-Grenade secondary mode (Proximity Pinball)

-N-Grenade

-Psychosis Gun

-Various Gadgets such as the CamSpy.


If someone has ideas on how to get some of these functions working, I would greatly appreciate assistance! N-Grenade needs a graphic set that I am incapable of producing.

I haven't done extensive testing either but I did get the same crash as well when I tried to fix it. That's Xenonauts for you I guess, hopefully 2 has much better mod support.

Unrelated note, I took inspiration from the throwing knives and added throwing rocks for the meme potential.

Because the Devastator can use multiple ammo types; Frags and Gas. If I recall correctly as I've lost my project files, I was having a crash issue or an issue using different ammo types if I put anything other than ammo.rocket. I may have given up on fixing it fully and left it up to the player to use the correct ammo type. I am almost positive that the weapon changes to the correct first ammo type (Frags) when entering Ground Combat, because the Devastator is not actually assigned to equip anything but devastator.X ammo types.

It seems under the weapons.xml the Devastator is set to fire ammo.rocket instead of weapon.rocket.devastatorfrag and it turns the Devastator into an 8-shot rocket launcher of your current explosives tech level when equipping loadouts.

Yeah I had a feeling about the items since I tried doing the same thing with Rimworld modding but using the N64 textures was just too low quality. The giant grenade sprite is actually kind of funny and gives me an idea of an easter egg holy hand grenade that would level a large portion of the map, including the soldier that throws it.

No vanilla weapons or equipment are replaced or modified in this pack. Everything is additional. A lot of the content is locked behind normal progression through the Research.

As for the art, thank you for the compliment! They were capped from the HD remaster on XBox, and edited to fit. There's a hiccup with the grenade sprites being double sized in the loadout menu, which I keep forgetting to fix.

I'm wondering if this replaces any of the existing weapons and equipment? I like the idea of supplementing the vanilla equipment to add variety and replayability for ground combat. Very well made textures though, I'm wondering if they are hand-drawn or somehow screenshots from the inventory menu.
