Best build order to get a flying fortress in USAAF, before you get shot down by 1943 Me-262s!

GUNS FIRST
So many enemy planes in USAAF! These weapon upgrades are absolutely necessary to even hope to shoot them down before they shoot you down!

1. Upper turret: Always upgrade to the best guns available to you!

2. Cheek guns: get .303 MK I asap

3. Waist guns: get .50 MK I to each position
Get Hydraulics and Electrical to MK II
What the title says.

They fail so easily at MK I. Before you upgrade these two systems, don't expect your engineer to be able to do ANYTHING ELSE.
Buy front equipment rack
1 slot is enough. Put fire extinguisher into it. For when you're burning in h**l.
Then Armor Up
Any decent Bomber Crew players know how important fueselage armors are.
Back to guns!
These weapon upgrades will make you shoot down enemies a lot faster and curse a lot less.

4. Tail turret: Upgrade to .50 with enough ammo. Doesn't have to be the best but needs to quickly take down a 262 tailing you.

5. Ball turret: Upgrade to .50 MK I. That's more of a quality of life to shred that buzzing Bf-110 that always gets beneath you.
Only then should you buy any crew gear
Your crews will die. Until you do the upgrades listed above, better not waste too much money on gears that will be full of holes after just a single mission.
Land in the sand
You CAN and WILL lose landing gears.

Fortunately, the North African desert is more forgiving than the sky, so belly flop to your hearts content!

(Just remember to toss all your bombs before doing that)
Best secondary skill for each position
Pilot: train Navigator at level 7

Engineer: train First Aid at level 5

Navigator: train Gunner at level 8 (after navigate by stars)

Radio Op: train Engineer at level 8 (after call mustangs)

1st (Tail) Gunner: train Engineer at level 8 (after incendiary)

2nd (Ball) Gunner: train First Aid at level 8 (after incendiary)

3rd (Waist) Gunner: train First Aid at level 8 (after incendiary)

4th (Top) Gunner: train Radio Op at level 8 (after incendiary)

Bombadier: train Gunner at level 3

My crew loadout is that the pilot gets no secondary or navigation, engineer, bombardier and navigator get gunner, radio operator can get whatever (or nothing) and the gunners get navigation engineering and 2 medical (I made the mistake of both medics not being in waist guns).

I would cry if my whole crew died because I made a mistake and took the pilot from the helm to fix an engine malfunctioning (that acually happended. And I cried)

I know this works, train your radio operator as a back up gunner. When the radio operator get seriously wounded and goes to the first aid station, train the ball turret gunner as a back up radio operator. Then the ball turret gunner mans the radio room and can even auto tag the fighters when they arrive, then returning to his ball turret gunner to his post to shoot down these fighters.

For secondary positions, I think it's better to train the Engineer as a pilot and the navigator as first aid. who can heal the pilot with out him leaving his post.

also tip for fighting 262s. if they try to tail you for their rocket attack just have your pilot change from mid and low altitude (or high to mid if you prefer and have thermal sets.). it for some reason messes up the AI targeting and will reset the timer IF you dont have upgraded 50 cals.... quad 50 melts them
