Developed roughly thirty years ago, the Outrider series of multi-purpose auxiliary craft have fulfilled the United Terrestrials Province need for a small, general use aerospace craft capable of being carried aboard their naval vessels. Though relatively less capable, compared to it's contemporaries in other navies, in certain roles, the Outrider 2A4, the current version of the second iteration of this versatile craft, nevertheless can undertake virtually any mission profile asked of it. Normally used for personnel transfer, short range patrols, and picket duty, the Outrider fulfills these roles well, though it is more limited in it's capabilities as a combat auxiliary or makeshift assault ship, owing to it's more limited onboard resources and lighter armament, consisting of a pair of forward mounted gatling guns, a single dorsal gatling turret, and a pair of manual reload rocket pods embedded beneath the nose.

Running mostly on ion thrust, the hybrid propulsion system of the Outrider 2A4 also incorporates high boost hydrogen systems and an array of atmospheric turbines for multi-environment use. Though not the most powerful array of thrusters, the combination does allow the craft to operate virtually anywhere. Owing to the limited hydrogen tankage onboard, the boosters are normally only activated during combat or other maneuvers requiring high thrust to weight ratios, and are deactivated during normal spaceborne operations. A short range radar system allows the Outrider to monitor it's immediate area, offering additional point defense for it's mother ship via the dorsal gatling turret, or reconnoitering ahead for threats that would otherwise endanger far larger warships.

Crewed by a single pilot, the Outrider 2A4 can carry up to 4 passengers in a fully pressurized compartment, along with their belongings, as well as a not insignifigant amount of cargo via it's internal storage. In addition to these amenities, the Outrider series features an emergency start reactor, auxiliary jumper batteries, and a small emergency kit for the pilot, with the reactor and kit located to either side of the cockpit. As a well rounded auxiliary craft, the Outrider 2A4 is the ubiquitous shuttle and multi-purpose small ship of the United Terrestrial Province, and is poised to remain so for some time.

It started as a set piece for the Destiny, but I came to like it well enough that I finished it, and am now releasing it along with it's mother ship! It's not the fastest, most heavily armed, or most durable shall craft out there, but it can do a lot, and works very well with the Destiny class, which can carry four of them. Enjoy!
