How to Achieve: In Kovac's Footsteps / Kovac's Pride and Joy!
由 predestruction 制作
Hello Guys,

First of all big thanks to @CGFW and his guide:
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2146510938
Check it out for a detailed walkthrough on how to unlock the Party Animal achievement and The Good Samaritan.

I made this guide to show you my playthrough and the decisions I made to unlock these achievements, so you can follow it like you follow footsteps in a minefield. Please be aware, that this guide is probably not the most efficient one and probably has some unnecessary steps. But if you follow it then you can be absolutely sure that you will get the achievements.

Preparation
First lets talk about preparation before we even start playing:
  1. I disabled Steam Cloud and deleted the game completely, including the remaining folder.
Make sure you backup your save and save history folder to save your progress so far.
  2. Download the game and make sure on start-up, that you don't have any character or existing offline camp to continue from.
  3. I didn't change the camp once and I didn't play in any online camp. I recommend you do the same and save the online achievements for later if you don't have them already.

Playthrough
Now to the actual playthrough.
  1. Create a new character and start playing through the story. Build your camp near Raymond in the "unreachable area"(See Video Guide below)
Disclaimer: I don't recommend playing each of the Pylon Challenges more then once, as shown in the video. I can't confirm or deny that it will be break the achievement, so just don't do it if you want to be on the safe side.

  2. About the base buildings. I built a Trunk, Armory, Kitchen, Foundry, and the Pylon. Accessories can probably be built, but I didn't build it.
  3. The quest order/failing quests/not completing secondary tasks doesn't affect the achievement as far as i know! (and I died a lot and did the quests in a weird order)
  4. When it's time to do the challenges at the Pylon, make sure that your Pylon is at max level before starting the challenge every time. (10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50).
  5. As for the other buildings: for the achievement challenges, meaning Challenge 4 (In Kovac's Footsteps) and 8 (Kovac's Pride and Joy), make sure the Pylon, Armory, and Trunk are at the maximum possible Level (30 and 50 respectively).
For the challenges between 4 and 8, (Challenges 5-7) I can confirm that the level of the Armory and Trunk is irrelevant. But make sure your Pylon is always at max level.
  6. The levels of the Foundry and Kitchen are irrelevant for every challenge at all times (even for the final one).
  7. You don't have to complete all quests. I didn't finish the storyline of Madison and Leslie and didn't touch the festive quests at the Radio at all. You should check in the end-game periodically if the 8th Challenge is activated on the Pylon. If it is, double-check that the Armory, Trunk, and Pylon are at level 50 and you are good to go.
  8. After 7 minutes of waiting, the achievement is yours. Congratulations.

If you followed these steps so far, you should now have the achievements.

Additional Advice and Hints
If you don't want to waste more time then necessary, I strongly recommend to focus only on getting materials for the buildings and your weapons. Don't waste effort on food, medicine, armor, or any defense systems. That way you should get from 1-50 with all buildings in about 15-20 hours of playtime.

Additional hints to gather the mid- and late-game resources for the buildings:
  • Copper Tubes can be farmed very easily with the "The Crash" quest from Roscoe.
  • Steel Pistons can be farmed quickly with the "The Panic Room" quest from Kovac.
  • Steel Plates can be farmed mid-game with the "Deer Kovac" quest from Kovac.
  • Late-game farming is best to do on "though neighborhood" quest from ???(Leslie).
Just run around the cage with the Swat zombies, shoot a bit to get their attention and collect and kill them with armor piercing arrows at the Entrance. Collect the SWAT Helmets and smelt them.
  • Aluminum Plates (smelted Aluminum Crooks), Copper Wires and Healing plants can be farmed in "The Saboteurs Sabotaged" quest from Kenji. Just run through the map to the Walkie-Talkie and collect all Healing plants on the way.
