In any kind of game that has a player based economy merching is the way to go to make your life easier. Don't leave your money sitting in the bank, use it to create more money. It also works for real life.
Good for you, but don't mix Merching with scammers. What you are talking about is Processing, its when you get raw materials and craft stuff with it to resell, its also profitable but always blocked behind some skill level requirement, while merching doesn't require any skills in-game only gps. Like I said you can start merching with any amount of gps, with a low amount it will only require more patience and its more intensive since you will be dealing with high volume items which buy/sell faster, making you sit at the GE for hours.
Merching is passive, you can do all that you are talking about while leaving some of your money on the GE flipping items. You even get a notification in the chat when a order is fully completed so you can go back at the GE and keep flipping.
Today is not that hard to get to 1B, even a "Log" is worth 1k gp, which makes it even easier for someone to start merching.
also got paid about 16m to get 95 herblore. and made probably in the bills on just monster farming.
same guy. made 0 cents merching. merchants are weak. and they all start off as scammers.
