Adds a new artillery unit in the Modern Era.

This mod attempts to fix a few problems with the siege weapons of the Renaissance and Industrial Era, by adding a new siege unit to the game.

The current Artillery Unit in the game is out of place thematically. Every other unit of the Industrial Era is cleary based on 19th century militaries and weapons, while the Artillery unit is clearly mid-20th century.

The old Artillery Unit has been moved to the Modern Era (to "Ballistics"), and has been increased in strength as a result.

A new unit has taken it's place in the Industrial Era, the Rifled Cannon. The Rifled Cannon is a midpoint between the Cannon and the Artillery. Like the Cannon, it must have line of sight to attack, but like the Artillery, it has a range of 3 tiles. Like the old artillery unit it is replacing, the Rifled Cannon is unlocked at the "Dynamite" tech.

The new upgrade path looks like this:
Catapult - Trebuchet - Cannon - Rifled Cannon - Artillery - Rocket Artillery

The Cannon now has a slightly higher ranged strength than before and the Rifled Cannon has a slightly higher ranged strength than the old Artillery unit. This change is to make both units more viable in an anti-infantry role. To account for their higher attack, their bonus against cities has been lowered.

The new values:
Cannon (14 Combat, 24 Ranged)
Rifled Cannon (18 Combat, 30 Ranged)
Artillery (25 Combat, 45 Ranged)

This mod uses assets from the Civil War Scenario

ya but NLOS artillery is better regardless of whether its historically accurate or not.

@Flamingcheesepie This mod will not change artillery in an ongoing game. This mod only changes newly produced artillery.

I have had a similar issue...cannons are not upgrading to rifled cannons, nor are rifled cannons available as new units even though the mod has been in use since the start of the scenario.

Exactly. You'll know if you messed up if that mod stops working entirely.

I know a little bit about how finicky code related things can be and am a little apprehensive about messing with the layout of the xml files.

I would basically just delete everything from "<Unit_ClassUpgrades>" until the blank line followed by "<Unit_FreePromotions>", right?

Hey Ryuu! It is a little technical, but if you navigate to this mod's xml files in your MOD folder, you might be able to delete the sections referring to upgrades.

I'm trying to play a modded game where units cannot be upgraded. Is there a way to disable only the upgrade path part of this to let the "No Unit Upgrading" mod work properly?

(I'm using the All-in-one and deleting upgrade path related changes, but this one is more than just an upgrade path change)

This. This ALWAYS bothered me with the tech tree of having full on artillery alongside muskets and frigates. I love this mod, along with all of Zolton's Tweaks.

@dasaard200 Artillery should get the "Indirect Fire" promotion as soon as they are built, or as soon as you upgrade Rifled Cannons to Artillery.
