You will need to complete two runs through the Single Player Campaign to unlock all the Achievements. A playthrough for the majority of the Achievements, & then a second playthrough for NG+/Achievement Mop-Up. For the first playthrough I focus on the Story Related, Collectibles, & most of the “enemy kill” Achievements. For the second playthrough it would be NG+, Don Difficulty, as well as the final “enemy kill” & maxing out the last few Talent Trees if you have not already done so.

To make things simple for the “enemy kill” Achievements try unlocking all the different attacks as soon as possible: Swarm, Gun Channeling, & Black Hole. That way as soon as you unlock the associated Achievement you can move right away onto the next. You are able to reload Checkpoints as well to farm out certain kill Achievements as well if you found a good place to do so...

There are two side Campaigns we have to play through called Vendettas & Hitlist where we get to choose between four characters to play as. They are fairly straight forward but will require replaying a few Missions.These Campaigns are technically meant to be played Online, but you are able to play them & unlock all their associated Achievements completely Offline as well.

For those interested, here is an organized list of all the Achievements/Secret Achievements. This is how I derive my Achievement Breakdowns & the first reference I create before I begin my 100% journeys.

Before You Play!: I found this weird glitch in the Chapter - Strong Silent Type where you are playing as the Darkling for the first time. You will have to crawl through a vent, but your feet will clip through the floor & make you unable to progress. If this glitch happens to you, go into Options – Display - & turn Vertical Sync on. This should solve the problem.

Since we need to playthrough the game twice, I recommend starting our first playthrough on Thug Difficulty. It will make the “enemy kill” Achievements a lot easier to get. NG+ is where we can challenge ourselves on Don Difficulty.



Achievement #1 – One Man Army: Kill 25 enemies while being dragged from the restaurant, without dying or restarting the checkpoint.
This is actually a pretty difficult Achievement to unlock. If you play on Thug Difficulty the enemies will go down in one shot. Pace your shots, try not to spray wildly. Reload in breaks or as you are being dragged further through the restaurant. Unfortunately, if you make it into the kitchen & the Achievement has not unlocked, you will have to reload the whole Chapter & sit through that initial cutscene. Sometimes it won’t show that you have unlocked it, open up the Steam Tab to double check.

If you cannot bring yourself to keep reloading the Chapter for this Achievement, do not worry about it. Since this is an Achievement at the very beginning of the game, we can simply start up a New Game later on specifically for grinding this Achievement.

Relic #1 – Roanoke’s Bane: After meeting the Darkling for the first time, tear down the door of the building you are in & you can find the Relic right in front of you.


Achievement #2 – Jackie’s Got Talent: Purchase a Talent in the Single Player Campaign.
Purchase the first Talent, Eat Hearts, from the Talent Void to unlock the Achievement. This will open up four different Talent Trees for Jackie. Each Tree will have its own set of “enemy kill” Achievements. Whichever Tree you choose, keep in mind how you need to kill enemies with it.


Achievement #3 – Skeet Shoot: Throw an enemy into the air & kill them with gunfire before he lands.
After you get access to Dual Wielding, strike an enemy with Demon Arm Slash. While he is stunned, grab him & throw him straight up into the air & unload your two guns into him. It may take a few tries, but this Achievement is not too bad.


Relic #2 – YHWH’s Lament: When you head down the stairs into the subway terminal with the trains, head around behind the stairs. You will find this Relic underneath them on the right side.


Achievement #4 – Cheque Please!: Survive the hit.
This Achievement will unlock after completing the Payback Chapter.


Relic #3 – The True Revelation: After getting off the elevator with Vinnie. Head up the red carpeted stairs. Take a left down the hall & enter the open door into a bedroom. The Relic will be found on you left on top of a small table.

Dolfo Challenge #1: Before leaving Jackie’s home, head underneath the stairs & outside to the right. Tell your boys to move & head on down the stairs to go see Dolfo. He will get us to complete a shooting challenge for him. Shoot all 13 bottles in less than 10 seconds.
The second Challenge will be unlocked later on in the game.



Achievement #5 – 2 Guys 1 Pole: Kill 2 enemies with one javelin.
This is a very easy method for unlocking this Achievement. In the beginning of the Chapter when you gain control of the Darkness, you will tear down the door to a bar. Directly right of this door is a pool cue, after tearing down the door you will be charged by two enemies. Grab the cue & wait till the enemies are in line. Throw the cue into them & kill them both to unlock this Achievement.

Relic #4 – Sister of Light: After dealing with the enemies inside the bar, head over to your right inside the arcade room to find the Relic on the floor in the corner.

Relic #5 – The Darkman: Enter the junk yard. After dealing with enemies behind the broken car you will see a wall of rubble & a Talent Void. You can find this Relic to the left of the Talent Void up against a chain link fence.


Achievement #6 – Mmmm Essence!: Pick up 5 Relics in the Single Player Campaign.
This Achievement will unlock after collecting The Darkman Relic.

Relic #6 – The Trinity: In the next section of the Chapter you will fight Swifty inside a crane. After destroying it, run up the crane & there will be a green trailer beside a fence gate you have to tear down. Enter the trailer & you can find the Relic just inside.


Achievement #7 – Romantic: Real guys know how to dance.
After the Crane boss battle, you will enter a restaurant & hallucinate your girlfriend. You two will begin dancing & you will have the option of kissing her. Do not, & just keep dancing until you stop on your own. This takes around 3 minutes to unlock the Achievement, so just wait it out. Get some food.


Achievement #8 – Versatile Killer: Kill enemies in 5 different ways within 30 seconds.
This is easier than it sounds. After seeing Jenny, you will enter the final section of this Chapter. Drop down into a warehouse where there will be around 6 enemies. Kill 1 with Demon Arm Slash, 1 with a Thrown Weapon, 1 with Execution, & 1 with your guns. By this point you’ll have hopefully unlocked another attack with a Talent. This can be throwing the Darkling at someone, Gun Channeling, or Swarm for the final kill. There is a lot of opportunities in this warehouse for the Achievement.

Relic #7 – The Graven Image: Enter the next room of the warehouse, with a conveyor belt in the middle. Deal with the enemies & climb over the belt. There are two shelves inside the conveyor belt half circle with a doorway in between them. The Relic can be found inside this room.

Relic #8 – Chime of Deliverance: Near the end of the Chapter, you will enter a large bay area in the warehouse where trucks come to make pickups. As soon as you enter, head past the forklift on your left & you will see two sets of stairs leading up to a light generator. Destroy the generator, & you can now tear down a door that was across from it. The Relic is inside this room, on your right.


Achievement #9 – Cut & Run: Kill 50 enemies with the Demon Arm Slash attack.
Focus on killing people this way for these initial two Sequences. Later on in the game, the enemies will become armored & be a lot harder to kill with melee attacks. If you do not unlock this Achievement during Sequence 1, try for it in Sequence 2.


Achievement #10 – I’m Just Getting Started: Find & interrogate Swifty.
This Achievement will unlock after completing the Q & A Chapter after you help Jackie get… Shwifty.

Achievement #11 – That’s Why I Am the Boss: Impress Dolfo in two different ways.
If you completed Dolfo’s first shooting challenge on The Family Chapter, we can now complete his second challenge & unlock the Achievement. This challenge, in my opinion, is easier than the last challenge. Shoot 20/24 Pigeons scattered around outside the house in 1:30 seconds. I have heard/found it is easiest to shoot from the hip if the Pigeons are on the railing & shooting down the barrel if the Pigeons fly away. Reload the Shotgun before approaching the next set of Pigeons.


Relic #9 – The Brothers of Men: As soon as you start the Chapter you will exit a car. Turn right & head up some stairs; the Relic can be found in the back corner along this walkway behind a delivery truck.

Relic #10 – The Key of Mictlan: In the next section of the Chapter, fight your way through the Brothel until Jackie gets stuck by a light system. Disable the light with the Darkling & carry on through the Chapter. When some enemies bust down a door & attack you, you will find the Relic just behind them on a crate.



Achievement #12 – Decisions, Decisions: Refuse to cooperate with Victor in the Interrogation.
While being crucified, Victor will give you a choice on which of your men has to be sacrificed. Do not choose any of them & wait for them to make the decision for you. After waiting 10 seconds or so & they will shoot Eddie, unlocking the Achievement.

Relic #11 – Thumb Screws: After freeing yourself from the cross, look behind you to the left & you will see the Relic on the floor in the corner.

Relic #12 – The Fool’s Phylactery: In the next section of the Chapter you will leave the burning Brothel & exit out onto the roof. Drop onto the next roof & head across the stairs. As you reach a set of stairs heading down onto another roof, you can see the Relic just off to your right on a fire escape. Use your Demon Arm to grab it while standing halfway down the stairs.


Achievement #13 – Ready For the Big Leagues: Kill 50 enemies with thrown objects.
If you made this a priority in this/the last Sequence you should unlock this Achievement near the end of the Chapter. Just remember to always throw pipes or heavy objects into enemies while trying for the Achievement.


Achievement #14 – Escape the Brotherhood: Survive the Interrogation.
This Achievement will be unlocked at the end of the Chapter.



Achievement #15 – The Bird Is the Word: Avoid being run over in the parking garage.
As you fight your way through the garage, you will round a corner & see a long narrow stretch of road. Make sure you reload your guns. The game will save & a car will come racing towards you. Fire at the driver & the car will flip over you as Jackie flips THEM, the bird.

Relic #13 – Winged Demon: Leave the garage & enter your home to find Dolfo defending a hallway. Instead of approaching him, turn around left & tear down a door on your right. The Relic will be on the floor just on your left inside.


Achievement #16 – Karama’s A (Censored by Steam): Kill a shielded enemy with his own shield.
In the next section of the Chapter, you have to fight your way over from outside your house. As you head up the stairs you will begin fighting enemies with shields. Shoot the cover off the shield then grab it from the soldier. Then while holding the shield, shoot the soldiers armor off (not killing him in the process) then whip the shield into him for the kill.

Relic #14 – The Blinding Sun: Enter your home & pass the hallway with the light generator in it. When you enter the kitchen, take a right into the adjacent room. You will find the next Relic in the corner to the left of a lit fireplace.


Achievement #17 – Storm the Mansion: Take back your mansion.
This Achievement will unlock at the end of the Chapter.

Achievement #18 – One Flew Over: Return to reality…?
This Achievement will unlock after you escape the insane asylum… in your mind? Maybe you shouldn’t have left…


The only Relic available in this Chapter is the one we collected back on The Family Chapter.


Relic #15 – Cain: Before or after you get attacked at Aunt Sarah’s funeral, go left from her grave towards a maiden statue. Head behind it & the garden plot to find the Relic between to hedges on the other side.

Relic #16 – Engraved Skull: Fight your way through the graveyard & shoot the light generator preventing you from progressing. Tear down the gate & you will encounter a soldier wielding a whip made of Dark Essence. Walk down the path & you will see a small mausoleum off your left. Carry around behind it to find this Relic.


Achievement #19 – The Swarm King: Kill 50 enemies who are swarmed while playing as Jackie.
Unlock Swarm as early as possible. This is the perfect Achievement to obtain while trying for Dark Akimbo. Whenever the power is charged unleash it on enemies & kill them however you like.

There is a bit of confusion as to if your kills only count if you get the “In the Clouds” bonus. In the Clouds is only if you get a headshot while they are swarmed. I got maybe five or six of those total before the Achievement unlocked so do not worry if that prompt rarely comes up.


Achievement #20 – Dark Akimbo: Kill 100 enemies while dual wielding 2 different guns while playing as Jackie.
Self explanatory, this will be your main method of killing people while waiting for powers to re-charge. Always carry to different one-handed guns & you are pretty much guaranteed to unlock this Achievement at some point during the first playthrough.


Achievement #21 – Sweet Revenge: Avenge your Aunt Sarah.
This Achievement will unlock after you complete the Chapter.


There are no Relics or Achievements to be found on this Chapter.


Relic #17 – The Lantern of St. Anthony: Make your way into the carnival area. As soon as you enter, head left past all the stalls till you see one reading “Cotton Candy & Peanuts” off your right. Walk over past it to the right & you will find the Relic in between two boxes.

Carnival Game #1: On this Chapter there are two carnival games we come across through the story where we need to score 1000 points or more for an Achievement. If you fail, reload the checkpoint & try again. The first game is a shooting gallery. It is not too difficult, simply hover your gun in the top left corner shooting only the ducks worth 50 or 100 points.

Relic #18 – AF & Hemah: After leaving the light trap tunnel with the clown faces you will enter the next section of the Chapter. As you walk up the road from the tunnel, take a right at the top & head up a set of stairs. The Relic will be found at the top beside a bench.


Achievement #22 – Executioner: Kill 50 enemies with Executions while playing as Jackie.
This should come naturally through your first playthrough of the game.


Achievement #23 – This Kid’s Got Potential: Max out 1 of Jackie’s Talent Trees.
You may have unlocked this sooner. I maxed out the Tree ending with Black Hole first so I could start chipping away at it.


Achievement #24 – Carnie Kid: Earn a score of over 1000 in each of the carnival games.
The second carnival game is a bit trickier. Shoot the Bandits but not the Sheriffs. The Bandits on the top floor will give you 100 points. If you do not reach 1000 points reload the checkpoint. The Achievement will unlock as soon as you complete the event.

Relic #19 – The Abysmal Maw: After you regain control of Jackie when you complete the final carnival game, go immediately to your right. There is a small room in the right side of the large castle attraction where the Relic can be found.

Relic #20 – Crescent of the Sun: In the next section of the Chapter, make your way to the large clown face door that locks in front of you. The fence to your left will eventually be busted open by enemies, head down the path & enter the building. When you enter there will be a barred door with the Relic just behind it. Grab it with your Demon Arm or walk around to the other side & enter the room.

Relic #21 – Siddhartha’s Tears: When you enter the garage that has the large explosive truck in its center, walk around to the other side of it. The Relic will be on a small stage behind the truck in the garage.

Relic #22 – The Mark of Cain: The last Relic will be in next section inside the haunted house. Right as you enter you will find a Talent Void. To the right of the Void is a tickets booth, the Relic is found just inside it on the floor.


Achievement #25 – Date Night: Protect Jenny.
This Achievement will unlock at the end of the Chapter.

Achievement #26 – Allies In Strange Places: Escape the asylum with help from the inside.
This Achievement will unlock at the end of the Chapter.


Relic #23 – Pope John XII: As the Darkling, make your way through the Chapter until you first find where Jackie is hanging in the iron maiden. From here go through the next tunnel. You will enter a room with two soldiers & some crates with a cult symbol on them. Carry on straight to the back wall & follow it left till you see a small room. The Relic will be just inside near a tunnel.


Achievement #27 – Impish Delight: Kill 15 enemies while playing as the Darkling.
This will be unlocked at some point while trying to save Jackie as the Darkling. During our first time playing as the Darkling you may have killed 1-3 enemies. If you try killing most soldiers you come across in this section, you will unlock the Achievement.


Achievement #28 – Back In the Saddle: Rescue Jackie from the iron maiden.
Save Jackie as the Darkling. The Achievement will unlock after regaining control of Jackie & being called a cactus.

Relic #24 – Reliquary of the Blessed Blood: When you enter your father’s old office, look to your right & you will find the Relic on a small table.


Relic #25 – The Silent Night: Fight your way through the initial battle of this Chapter. Climb up a set of wooden stairs & tear down a part of the wall to progress. When you walk on that wall piece, turn around & look back at the stairs you came up. On your left where the wall was removed is now a small room with the Relic tucked in the back of it.

Relic #26 – The Deceiver’s Grasp: After surviving the battle in the large hall with your father’s picture, head through the hole in the wall. Go up the set of stairs, but do not drop through the floor just yet. Instead, walk along the boards on your left past a fan & you can see the Relic in behind a broken wall. Grab it with your Demon Arm.


Relic #27 – The First: When you drop down into the room where you fight Victor, look to your right. The Relic can be found off in a corner directly to the right of where you came in from.


Achievement #29 – Step Into Hell: Defeat Victor
This Achievement will unlock at the end of the Chapter.


There are no Relics or Achievements found on this Chapter.


Relic #28 – Prism of the Brothers: At the beginning of the Chapter you will have a short cinematic as you approach Jenny. Just before you leave the stone walkway, look to your right & you will see what looks like a house. The Relic is found just below it to the right.

It should be noted that the game considers this Relic as Relic #29 even though we collect the Prism of the Brothers before Ashes of the Unnamed. For my own numbering conventions, I just list the Relics in order of collections. These are the only Relics in the game with a different number as to when they are found.

Relic #29 – Ashes of the Unnamed: After Jenny gets taken further into Hell, follow the pathway up. Round a corner where some enemy Darklings are coming down from. Take another corner & you will see way above you a large red hole in the ceiling. The Darkness will soon yell at you “YOUR SOUL IS LOST!” From here, you will see a wall you can tear down with your Demon Arm (though you may have blasted it down if you have been Gun Channeling). Turn around & look to your right, & the final Relic can be found in a small alcove off to the side. If you reach Jenny again you have gone too far.


Achievement #30 – Relic Hunter: Find all 29 Relics in the Single Player Campaign.
If you have been following along with this guide, this Achievement will unlock after collecting the final Relic.


Achievement #31 – Free the Mind: Finish the game on any Difficulty.
This will unlock after freeing Jenny & beating the Single Player Campaign.

Now for the final playthrough on NG+ while playing on Don Difficulty. This will be a bit of a challenge, but all our powers from the previous playthrough will carry over making it much easier. Focus on whatever “enemy kill” Achievements you still need while also collecting as much Dark Essence as possible, we will want to purchase all of Jackie’s Talents.



Achievement #32 – The Old Gibber: Kill 100 enemies with Gun Channeling while playing as Jackie.
I unlocked this Achievement during this Chapter. This could have unlocked for you back in NG or later on in NG+. This is a very cheap attack & is very useful on NG+ to quickly dispatch enemies.


Achievement #33 – Suck It Up: Kill 50 enemies with Black Hole while playing as Jackie.
I unlocked this Achievement during this Chapter as well. This Achievement might take you a while as there is a bit of luck involved with when a Black Hole spawns or not. If you Execute any enemy or kill them with Gun Channeling they will not drop anything so keep that in mind.



Achievement #34 – Truly Talented: Max out 3 of Jackie’s Talent Trees.
I unlocked this Achievement during this Chapter. After this we should have 1 full Talent Tree to max out. Talent Show will probably be the last Achievement we have to unlock before beating NG+.



Achievement #35 – Talent Show: Max out all 4 of Jackie’s Talent Trees.
I unlocked this Achievement during this Chapter. This will be the last Achievement we unlock aside from completing this playthrough on Don Difficulty & NG+.



Achievement #36 – Don of Darkness: Finish the game on Don Difficulty.
This Achievement will be unlocked after the credits roll.


Achievement #37 – At Home In the Dark: Finish all Chapters in NG+ on any Difficulty.
This Achievement will be unlocked after the credits roll.

For the Vendettas Campaign, we are able to choose between four different characters: Inugami, Shoshanna (best), Jimmy, & J.P. There is an Achievement associated for completing a Mission with each character. There is also an Achievement for purchasing all Talents with only one of them. I would recommend replaying the first Mission with each character until you decide who your favorite is, then carry on & beat the Vendettas Campaign with them. We will then take the character through Hit List & sometime in that Campaign we should have them maxed out.

I should note, you can complete the Vendetta Campaign as well as Hitlist completely Offline. You do not need another player to unlock any of the associated Achievements.



Achievement #38 – Voodoo Is More Than Dolls: Complete a Mission as JP.
After completing Here’s Johnny with JP the Achievement will unlock. Now, start a New Campaign & select a different character to try.


Achievement #39 – It’s 12pm Somewhere!: Complete a Mission as Jimmy.
After completing Here’s Johnny with Jimmy the Achievement will unlock. Now, start a New Campaign & select a different character to try.


Achievement #40 – Dark Ninjutsu: Complete a Mission as Inugami.
After completing Here’s Johnny with Inugami the Achievement will unlock. Now, start a New Campaign & select a different character to try.


Achievement #41 – Hell Hath No Fury…: Complete a Mission as Shoshanna.
After completing Here’s Johnny with Shoshanna the Achievement will unlock.
Now, decide which character you are going to stick with & carry on in the Vendettas Campaign.

Achievement #42 – Burned His Mansion: Kill Luigi Palladino.
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the Mission.



Achievement #43 – Coward: Kill Cedro Valdez.
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the Mission.

Achievement #44 – Bonnie & Clyde Wannabes: Kill Jean-Luc Lambert & Amelie Dubois.
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the Mission.

Achievement #45 – Should Have Called 555-2368: Survive the battle against the Hell Beast.
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the Mission.


Achievement #46 – The Brotherhood Crumbles: Complete Vendettas Campaign.
This Achievement is unlocked after Vinnie congratulates you on a job well done. Do not leave town as he says… we still have one more Campaign to complete.

Unless you were completely on the ball with your kills, its highly unlikely you were able to max out your character. That is alright. All our Talents are going to transfer over into Hit List so we still have time.

For the Hit List Campaign, there is a total of 6 Missions we have to complete. There are Online only Missions but fortunately for us, none of these are related to the Achievements we need to unlock. You can unlock all the Achievements in this Campaign completely Offline.

Achievement #47 – Embraced the Darkness: In Vendettas, acquire all the Talents for one character.
This Achievement is a bit misleading as it specifically says in the Vendettas Campaign. That is not true, it can also be unlocked here in Hit List. After beating the full Vendettas Campaign, you should have more than enough Dark Essence to fully max out your chosen character. Find the Talent Void at the start of this Mission & purchase the final upgrades.


Achievement #48 – Whipping Boy: Kill Frank Marshall.
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the Mission. We can now access the next Mission.

Achievement #50 – You’ve Made My Hit List: Complete 6 Hit List exclusive Missions
This Achievement is unlocked at the end of the last Mission. A bit of a lack lust end, but there you have it, that is all she wrote for us on the Hit List Campaign.
