go to your document tab - press the player folder, then copy the first save file (take note as to when u last saved as there could be issues
now go to your programs file x86 - steam - steam apps - common - starbound - storage - player, then paste your save file in
each dash is a new folder to follow this and you should find your way
thanks to @subjectThrone31 for making it easy to follow for game pass players
but my way worked for me
I was playing the game on the game pass, I bought it on steam, I found this useful guide to help me transfer my saves to steam.
Discovered the horrible truth
If you delete your game, the game pass will also delete your saves! It says it stays on the could, BUT, you need to own the game to download it again and I unistalled it because it ended it time on game pass!
So, no way I am going to play 40+ hours again!
Also this game doesn't auto backup your saves like all games with single save slots, in case of corruption, mine 40+ hours of this game is gone!
Save and exit and check the timestamp on the file to confirm. It is still a plaintext file and can be renamed before copying over.
In SystemAppData go to "wgs" folder. Then twice go into a folder with long random-looking name.
You'll find 4 files with random-looking names and a container file. The 4 files correspond to the 4 files in post above. One is clearly the profile file and other 3 look very similar inside but in size.
