well thankfully I didn't experience many monarch deaths so the only time I was seriously impacted by confederate partition was when the empire broke into 4 different empires and I screamed, but in that scenario usually the other empires are pretty weak since they're ruled by someone with the wrong religion/culture so you should have no problems reconquering them. a neat way to circumvent confederate partition once you start generating a lot of renown and prestige is to just disinherit all your children besides your intended heir. as a bonus, there won't be any claimants to your primary title upon succession so you can maintain a relatively stable realm
