#1: Clothing stores have a price range, too. This is nice to know when your whole band is ready to write a song except for that one PITA. Stop by the cheap clothes store and get their Inspiration up to 100 so you can get writing! Obviously, this won't work forever, so keep it in your pocket until you really need it.
#2: Studios have different rates, but the same producers are available at each one. The quality of the studio (indicated by their rates) is also a limiting factor on your recordings. When you're ready to record, take a tour around the city and see which studio will get you the most bang for your buck.
Some additional info on Tip #1/Repair: Music shops have different price points. The same item can vary wildly in cost from store to store. The words 'Discount' and 'Deluxe' in the names refer to the quality of things they have in stock, not necessarily their prices.
If you're going to work the Repair gambit, it's a good idea to make a circuit of the entire town on day one to get an idea of where the market stands.
Since not all shops are going to have the same inventory for comparison, I find it easiest to buy what you need to get started and then make your circuit to see what all the shops will offer you for it.
Once you have the local scene scoped out, it's a simple matter of buying from the low price shops and selling to the higher price ones.
Tip #1: There are times in the game when the Law gets a hold of one of your Band Members, and you need funds to have them remain in your band. So ALWAYS have at least $2000 in the Bands On hand funds.
Tip #2: When you leave a show at night, always have enough funds to get a Motel at the least, or drive home if you can. Because you can get to a point where you can do nothing to save your band except reload.
Tip #3: Just because you CAN buy it, don't. Only buy what your band needs at the very moment. This is because the Happiness and the Inspiration stats have finite resources to boost them up. Art, new equipment and Clothing are the main ways to boost, and if there is no new art, no new Clothing, and no new instruments to buy, then it becomes extremely difficult to keep the mates happy mainly.
My old computer was just about dead so I stopped recording, I just got my new computer today so once I get it all configured I will be starting to record some more videos.
