The prerequisites for mass standard housing design and construction in the USSR appeared with the adoption on February 11, 1936, of a decree by the Government and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks on streamlining and making construction cheaper. In this decree, for the first time, it was officially announced the need to create a large construction industry based on the industrial production of building parts, semi-finished products and structures. From this moment, the drafting of pilot projects and the construction of the first standardized buildings in the cities of the country begins.

In 1940, a decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks was issued on the state plan for the development of the national economy, which outlined the course for the construction of residential buildings in cities and workers' settlements from local wall materials of 1-2 floors. In this connection, high-rise buildings in cities are slowly beginning to be replaced by low-rise ones. A sharp increase in the scale and volume of typical housing design and construction begins during the Great Patriotic War. The deployment of industrial enterprises evacuated to the east required the construction of a large number of small workers' settlements from standard houses in a very short time.

One of the most successful sets of low-rise residential buildings of the 1940s was created by the architect Maslikh S.A. from the Architectural and Design Workshop No. 1 of the Ministry of the Oil Industry of the Eastern Regions of the USSR.
Typical projects Maslikha S.A. were combined into 201 series, which contained 2-storey projects No. 2; No. 9; # 12; # 13; No. 18 (fig. 2)

Designation of projects Maslikha S.A. as typical meant that, thanks to the drawn up working drawings, the buildings of residential buildings could be quickly tied to construction sites, and the construction itself was carried out in a short time and relatively cheaply due to the unification of the 201 series of standard sizes in all projects of the 201 series of standard sizes of repeatedly repeated elements and parts of the house, as well as a detailed description typical technological operations of construction works with a large share of their industrialization. All projects of the series had two options for facades: front and ordinary, as well as options for the implementation of stove or central heating.

The dissemination of the 201 series was facilitated by the large composition of the house projects included in it, which could be located both on the red line of the streets or with an indent from it, and for intra-quarter and corner buildings, which made it possible to design entire blocks or villages at once while maintaining the unity of the planning and constructive solution ... It was this opportunity that favorably distinguished the Maslikh S.A. series. from other typical series of low-rise residential buildings of that time.

The 201st series was redesigned in 1950 by increasing the living space by reducing the loggias and verandas, and removed separate exits from the apartments on the ground floor. From the rich design of the facades, after the revision, only the window cornices and plaster walls with painting were left. (fig. 4)

The overwhelming majority of residential buildings of the 201 series were built precisely in the 1950 version, having spread throughout the USSR, in almost all climatic zones. These buildings have been perfectly preserved and are in use today.

This work presents all two-story houses of the 1-201 series with options for central and stove heating. Since the game does not allow creating mirror objects, 1-201-13 and 1-201-18 are presented in two versions: with execution on the left and on the right corner of the streets, respectively.
