How to fix the screen "scaling" problem in HL: AZ | Windows 10

In this guide I'll show you how to fix the screen scaling problem that happens when you want to play the game on 1080p (or higher).

Step 1
Go to "LIBRARY" and right-click on "Half-Life: Absolute Zero" then click on "Properties".
Step 2
Once you are on the game's properties, go to "LOCAL FILES" and click on "BROWSE LOCAL FILES".
Step 3
The location of the game files is going to open. Once the folder pops-up, look for the ".exe" of the game which is the one with the name "hlaz", right-click on it and select "Properties".
Step 4
A window is going to pop-up, this are the "hlaz.exe" properties.
Click on the "Compatibility" tab, then click on the "Change high DPI settings" button.
Step 5
Once you've clicked the "Change high DPI settings", this will appear:



Make sure to check both:
"Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings."

and...

"High DPI scaling override" (in this section, just leave it in "Application").

Then click "OK", and then click on "Apply" and again, click "OK".
Done!
Enter the game and choose your resolution! (in my case I choosed Aspect Ratio: "Widescreen" and Resolution: "1920x1080")

And you did it! Easy as pie! :D

As you can see, the screen is displaying properly, of course the "Main Menu" image looks "stretched" since it's a "4:3" image and it will look like that in a "16:9" display, so no worries :3 (same thing happens on the retail version of Half-Life when yo play it on a 16:9 display)


and here's a "In-Game" screenshot, here I am with "Timmy" (yes, I named him/her like that, fight me) and as you can see the "UI" and the "FOV" looks good.

im sorry but my game is just frozen when i open it and the play and options and others dont appear so its impossible to play

¡Hola! Lamento decirte esto, pero como mencioné en un comentario anterior, este "fix" solo lo logré probar con Windows 10 Home Single Language. Jamás logré probar el fix en una PC con Windows 8.1 (o inferiores) porque simplemente no tengo una PC con ese SO. Lo único que podría recomendarte es que juegues con una resolución no mayor a 1024x768. De ahí no se me ocurre nada más. Perdón :steamsad:

don't you mean "OFF"? At least in my case, I'm suffering from "screen tearing" because of the VSYNC in HL: AZ is "OFF" by default (and it CAN'T be activated via the console).
What you can do is:

- Go to your "Graphics Control Panel" and in "3D options" (this is a very general name, I don't know how to called it on English since my PC is on Spanish, sorry :/, but look something related to it!).
- Once you've opened the control panel, look for a VSYNC option on the "3D options", try to use the VSYNC of your graphics card and not the application's VSYNC (when i say "application's vsync", that would be the HL: AZ vsync).

That's the only thing I can think of, if you still have trouble, try to open a discussion with the "Support" tag and wait for someone on the HL: AZ answers you, they usually answer in no time. I hoped this helped you!
