Part 2 of Basics of creating a single player map
I guess i found out how long of a guide you can make :-(

Ok my last words were to save your file . Hopefully you have done that . Now it is time to test to make sure your map will open properly in the game.

So go ahead and fire up the Game . You need to select Mission Select , then the Custom Mission Button which is the 6th one on the right side.

Hint:: if you made the short cuts to your desk top that i mentioned in part1 , you can leave the map editor running while you also play the game.



You need to select the one that has the NAME you typed into the Map Settings.

Go ahead and see to make sure it does start , you should see an apc , and if you want drive it around and attack the nod.

If it doesn't start go back over things and make sure you didn't miss anything.

Once your happy with it , you can close out the game ,but leave the game running.

From now on we will be adding a few things and testing them.

TeamTypes

Ok go ahead and open the team types window , you will notice it is empty , and doesn't have any buttons to add anything .
The simple way to add a team type is to left click on the left most box and you should see a little banner pop up that says Add TeamType , now left click on that little banner , you can change the name, now or later,



So go ahead and add a team Type , change the name to mcv ,House = goodGuy , click on the prebuilt box, Priority =7 . Teams mcv ,Count = 1 Missions = Move ,Argument = 0

This unit will move to wayPoint 0 , so we also need to add that to our map .

This is half of what we need to do to have an MVC reinforce Us .






TRIGGERS

Now we need some way to Trigger our mcv to show up.

First starting a new trigger is the same as starting a teamType



So Now we will create a trigger that will create our MCV

Start a new trigger , set the name of it to mcv1 ,House = GoodGuy ,Event = Time (set that to 4) this will give us a slight delay before this trigger will fire . Action = reinforce .. Team = mcv



Now save your file and Go test it , You should have 6000 in cash once your construction yard is active..
What we learned , how to start a teamType to do a reinforcement and firing a Timed event trigger.

Now we are going to change it , so open the MCV1 Trigger and change the Event from Time to Player Enters Argument = 0

Now this one is going to need the player to enter something before the MCV will show up.

Now if you notice the Cell Trigger Tab is active , So you can select the Cell Trigger tab select MCV1, then SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON place a row of cell triggers like in the picture. To remove a cell trigger it is SHIFT + Right Click.




Now save your file and check how how it affects the timing of the Mcv , It wont show up until you cross that row of cell triggers.
So now you know how to create a reinforcement using a timed event or entering a celltrigger

Now we will set the Mcv1 trigger back to what it was orginally
to mcv1 ,House = GoodGuy ,Event = Time (set that to 4) . Action = reinforce .. Team = mcv


Now we will send in some other reinforcements.
First you need another waypoint #1 , then you will create the teamtype as shown in the next image. This is an apc with 2 engineers inside of it.



Now we need a trigger to send our apc. Enter the shown trigger in the next image then replace the MCV1 CellTriggers with APC cell triggers.



Now save the file and Go test it ,, You should notice the Mcv arrive fairly quickly after the mission start and the apc with the 2 engineers will arrive after you cross the cell triggers.

Now we will set a Hand of Nod with a WIN trigger on it ,as well as a lose trigger and another win1 trigger .








Now save your file and go test it out , You can win the game two ways , entering the hand of nod with an engineer , or destroying all of the nod forces.


Now onto some work for you Mhahaha
Your going to Move the Hand , Create some more Nod buildings add a harvestor , and add some resources.

Ok you should save and go test it out to make sure everything is working ok .

Production

Ok so now we want the nod guys to do some things , the first thing we need to do is to turn on their production queue. We can do that with a trigger like in this image. Go ahead and make the Prod trigger.



Now we need a Nod teamType that we want it to produce . Go ahead and make this team type , you will also need to add the way points 2 & 3



Now we need a trigger to fire this .



Go ahead and save this and go test it , There is something wrong with it Our nod forces should spawn 3 flamethrowers and 2 grenadiers .. plus they should be moving between waypoints 2 & 3
and they are just sitting at the hand of nod....

So what gives , well it turns out Nod can not make the grenadiers , so we need to fix that .
Change the e2 to e5 (chemsoldiers) . Then save the file and go test it.



Notice we now have a nice little troop going from way point 2 to 3.

Ok before i run out of room in this guide i give to you another nod teamtype and a trigger .



Notice you will have to add the celltriggers to make this work



Save your file . and go test it out , you should have a stealth tank, a flamer tank ,and a light tank attack your base.

Place down the right versions , they are at the top of the structures page , all of the fakes are at the bottom ,the war factory is the last real building

Myself i like making RA maps better , there is a lot more things you can do with the scripting

Unload is used to unload things from transports such as APC,Hovercraft, Transport helicopters

IN TD the player has to Unpack the MCV
